  • YES. . .I played "Jon Levins" Charvel last night.

Went to see "Dokken" last night.Got the guitar tech's attention (wearing my Charvel Tee) and he waved me to come back stage. So I did.
Guess what? Jon has a Blk So-Cal he uses on the road. It was a proto-type the tech mentioned. (serial # was 79XX) no "00" infront. It's been set up to his liking and has a German Floyd in place of the production Floyd. That's about it. No back plates on any of his Charvels.I played it,couple chords, riffs. It was dark and they were going on soon. Also held and played his Custom Shop skull with black headstock.
Tone Zone's in the bridge baby. They were really good and sound mix was good too.Jon and Don were really cool and thankful of their loyal fans.Had a good time.Jon is amazing live and played "George" w/no effort what so ever, you could tell they get along and happy to perform.

BTW: Jon's CS Charvel stayed in really good tune,he mainly used it and didn't have to swap out for a tuned one,he had a plain Blk San Dimas w/zebra humbucker in Br. and blk single coil (neck) which he used for a Drop "D",it had a "D-Tuna on it for just one song.
    Glad I went,sluggish @ work today. . . oh well.

Cool stuff - nice that the tech spotted you and made the effort to talk...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

That is freaking awesome! Now, if I could just find a Charvel T-shirt in 5XL.

Thanx for the comps guys. I was going to bring my Canon 8.0mp too.But it was so damn hot, didn't feel like carrying it. . little to bulky to put in a pocket. I could of got great pix too.You guys know me and my pix.
For some reason I like the painted Blk headstock w/gold logo on his Strathead. Oh yeah, he has the disclaimer sticker still on the back of the headstock on the skull one.
The sticker was placed on an angle hugging the long part of the headstock, exactly were the front logo is but on back.Boy does he use his Floyd's.Pretty much all the time. Never heard him tune (unless he had a stage tuner) but no open string tuning w/bass player etc.

Yeah,I kept pointing to my Charvel shirt to Jon on stage that he waved both hands to me as if : "come on come get/or here is my Charvel". He smiled alot and could tell he was enjoying himself.

Too bad "Sheddermon" wasn't there, I def could of gotten him back w/me. Pat: You could of played them.

That's awesome. I love Jon's playing on the last two Dokken cds. I was hoping to meet him at NAMM, but never saw him anywhere.

The new USA Production Series has an "Original Floyd Rose" that is apparently made in Korea. It's very good, but not the same same as german one.

I saw Dokken a few weeks ago on Long Island (Jones Beach) and I thought they sounded excellent. Levin's guitar playing was awesome. He had the right type of "sound" to make the songs sound "right." Oh yeah.....he's a great player too!
