No argument from me on that.

      Funniest part of that interview...

Dave: Are you a sweeper? Do you do, like, that arpegiated (sp?) stuff?

George: Not much. Again, it's tough for me.

(George breaks into a little sweep)

Dave: (sarcastically) I can see you're really struggling with that one George.

George is a great player BUT...He wasn't kiddin...That was more like a rake than a sweep...

George has a very tense, edge of the seat feel...I like that...Viv campbells playing had a similar feel...back when he played with Dio of course...

I think that's why I love his playing as well, I'm pretty lame at sweep picking too but love the way he combines a blues and hard rock lead style to forum his own voice among all the shredders out there.

that is one of the better descriptions I've heard of GL's attack and playing. in-fucking-tense.

you never know what he'll do next, and he pulls out something super sick that blows your mind 5x more than the last lick, and faster than you can imagine.

it's that coloring outside the lines that amazes me every time I hear him play.

            fuuuuuuuck.

It's funny when I used to listen to the Dokken albums he sounds so smooth with awesome legato and that crazy slide-vibrato thing he used to do. Then I got to finally see him play live at the Monsters of Rock tour way back then and I couldn't believe how stilted and jerky he was. It was like somebody was using the wet sponges on paddles attached to a car battery on his nuts or something.

You can watch somebody like Yngwie or Paul Gilbert sweep and do crazy string skips and they look like they aren't even trying but George looks like his guitar is a burmese python trying to crush his ribs.

P.S. don't take this the wrong way, I love George's playing and Tooth and Nail is one of my alltime favorite albums.

still his strongest side is his feel/tone... he makes every note count... he plays every single note with his feel which is very unique and makes him stand out... everything he does is so much full of nuances and different colors... a really really dynamic player... and he has the ability to make the guitar scream like no one else (the reason why most of us even bothered to play fanzy lead guitar, it's all about the screaming notes, the thing which gives you the chills)
even when he has a really bad day, is sloppy and plays the wrong notes... he still plays everything with his feel/tone... that is a sign of a true talented musician

the funniest description I ever heard of Lynch's facial expression while playing intense shit is that he looks like a retard eating hot wings. :ROTF:

That was very cool! Thanks for the link.
Reminds me of the old times working in a guitar store - when it was quiet we'd sit in the corner trading licks and shootin' the shit just like those guys.

Just had a great thought. Someone ring Satch or Vai and tell them to do a G3 with Lynch on board.
                            OH YEEEEAHHH!!!!!

Yes, it was pretty bad. Dave's guitar sounded much clearer in the vid.
