Manowar, what's the problem people have with them?

I had their first album, right when it came out and after a week I was bored out of my mind. Hail To England, etc. etc.

Well, they still look like men (maybe cavemen), which is a lot better than wearing makeup and looking like a chick and singing sappy power ballads.
And they are still around, unlike a lot of the '80s glam man-chicks.

Dave Shenkel was in my store on saturday. Thinking he was cooler than he really is. On a differnt note tho. John Corabi did a clinic at my store last night. What a real nice guy. He signed autographs for the crowd answered all kinds of questions and was even sarcastic and funny with the crowd. (all in fun) There was an older gentelmen from germany in the crowd and was making inuendos for John to answer. and with kids in the crowd he was awesome and just poked fun back at the guy. Some of the funniest banter iv'e seen in a long time. I almost pissed myself.

Their caveman act is all a put-on, right? I think of them as kinda like Twisted Sister or pro wrestlers. More for the younger kids. They've been able to make a good living at it, so good for them.

that picture on the first page of this thread says it all. they are the OTHER extreme to hair bands - instead of being feminine sissys, they are filled with TOO much testoterone and have a homo-erotic image. to me, both types of bands suck balls....

Very much in agreement. I saw them with Rhapsody, what a match!!! NOT!

Rhapsody (I'm really not a fan) was heads and tails above. I felt embarrassed for Rhapsody having to "open" for those neanderthals.

Talk about a weird and diverse crowd...

I loved the early stuff...~82-84, Hail to England, Into Glory Ride and Battle Hymns...True classics

That was it for me, not up on them these days...but great innovative musicians at the time...Goofy as they were, they kicked ass...
Great drummer, amazing bassist, vocals to kill and guitar tone and feel unheard of in metal.

I could have done without the outfits, kings and wizards...they even had satanic shit going too very early on...

Obviously meant to be taken with a grain of salt...some just cant...not meant as dinner music.

Pretend you never seen or heard of em'...just kick back, listen and put yourself in the ol' days of Kill'Em All, Reign in Blood, Fistfull of Metal, Black Metal...These guys stood way out musically, satirically and imaginatively!
