Saw Uli last night...and Warren D. hops on stage!

Went to see Uli Jon Roth last night at a dive down the street from me (Brick by Brick), and he put on his usual mind-numbing, "I'm not worthy"-esque show (except for a couple numbers off the new album that...well...just didn't flow, let's say to be nice... )...lots of old Electric Sun and Scorpions....just another awesome show...

So it ends, he comes out for the encore, plays Dark Lady, then goes "Warren - where are you?"....and Warren D. pops up and hops onstage for a good half hour plus of jamming on Hendrix tunes (Wind Cries Mary, All Along the Watchtower, then an instrumental medley of different riffs).

Played a new black Frenchie, H/S layout, signed on the back of the headstock (is this a production model now?). Super nice guy, you could tell he was geeked to play with Uli a couple miles from where he grew up - I think half of the guys that he went to high school with were in the audience!

And no - I didn't have a camera...

haha..well, he's no "growler"..He played with the Scorpiopns back in the day..I'll find some things. It's who inspired Yngwie more than Ritchie Blackmoore..and Marty Friedamn's all time favorite..

uli is probably the most awesome guitarist ever. his work with the scorpions from '72 (maybe '74)-'78 is their best, and the stuff he has done since is mind-numbingly incredible!!!!

Mark he's actually better now than then..I've seen him up close and persona;..he only got better with age.

The new album seems more stright-up rock (ala the Electric Sun stuff), and he has a couple singers, another guitarist, keys, etc - a lot like the Beyond The Astral Skies tour in '84 or so...think he's looking to get a little more mainstream now, it was about a third Electric Sun, a third Scorps, and a third new stuff...well, ok, AND some Hendrix at the end, but I think that was only because Demartini was there...still played for about 3 hours though...

Pesonally... I think he is the son of god but he really is THAT GOOD.
