I'm going to hace to check out more of his stuff, he is pretty incredible.

    Thanks for the links!!
    Find the Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes.

That and Strangers In The Night pretty much sum up the best rock guitar playing around.

If I am not mistaken.. Strangers in the Night is Michael Schenker playing.

Uli was the only gutarist I ever saw that gave me goosebumps..he made me feel all gay. I felt like like an old hootchie momma listening to Barry White!

I shouted his name and threw my man panties at him..my manties!
Dude, there is no sorrow in admitting love for Uli, for much like Zamfir, his love is universal...it is hard to deny the entrapment of his turquoise and silver jewelery nattily matched up with crushed purple velor outfits and feathered roach-clips...:ROTF:

That being said, I chased him like a complete fanboi at NAMM last year to get his pic, got it developed, and went back the next day to have him sign it...his "ghey stalker alert" was in high-gear when I pulled THAT out!:ROTF:

Still very cool about it (after I apologized for being a complete fanboi), but he's one of the few guitarists that I HAD to get a pic with!

You're not mistaken! Guess I wasn't clear. I meant Uli on Tokyo Tapes and MS on Strangers is pretty much all one needs to hear for rock guitar.

Uli is incredible. If you are new to his material, you may have to cringe a bit during his singing on the older material. But, when he closes his mouth and starts playing it is unbelievable. If you want to find Yngwie's inspiration, the first three Electric Sun albums should do it. Yngwie actually named his band "Rising Force" after the painting by Monika Danneman (Jimi Hendrix's old girlfriend (now deceased)) on the back of the Earthquake album - the painting was named Rising Force. He is also the "Master of the Sky guitar" - thirty something frets or more, seven strings, neck and mid pickups actually under the fretboard.

I've saidf that before and this is gospel!!!

I went to buy Uli's latetes and the didn't have it in stock. I must order it. I own all of his works and I even have have his autograph..that dude is so soft spoken and humble. Here's another secret, his bro Zeno sounds alot like him, but a little more straight forward..in fact I think Zeno smokes many well known guitarists ..including the awesome Adrian Vandenberg, John Norum, James Byrd, Axel Rudy Pell, and ect..youtube Zeno Roth's work and you will be blown away what you'll find..you'll swear it was Uli!! I also have all of his stuff!

I always thought Uli never got his due..but his bro is completely overlooked..which is a damn shame!

Oh..There he is..I love him!!! He is THE best. That dude is the only true virtuoso rock guitarist alive. Yngwie can only dream to have the feel and phrasing of Uli Roth. There wouldn't be an Yngwie without Uli!!!

Every "shredder" in existence are punks compared to Uli Roth!!

It's prolly the bandana..or that mystical big ol' blue jewel in his sky guitar..yep, that's prolly where Uli gets his mojo..its that fuggin' jewel!!!

                    HAIL THE ULI!!!

So were at NAMM this year... 8 months ago, and were in our bus to
go back to the hotel... and my bass player points to the sidewalk about
                      30 feet away...and says...(he's 30) "Look at that 60's hippie reject!"
I punch him in the arm, as i realize after about 4 seconds, that its
ULI !!! I then scold Justin and let him know that that "Reject" was in
a band once... SCORPIONS! Then he was quiet! Its tough trying
                      to edumacate these youngsters!

Zeno is awesome and also writes some very melodic arena rock type anthems. Another extremely impressive German guitarist is Helge Engelke from Fair Warning and Dreamtide. His work on the first two Dreamtide CD's are very melodic and impressive.

Incidentally, Uli's newest disc is now available from www.cduniverse.com. My copy should be arriving today.

Even had to make my own Sky replica. Sorry to all for the "Uli-Worship"

No worries there, I think The Night The Master Comes was actually written about himself! :ROTF:

Be sitting down for the first spin of the new CD - new singer whole has some pipes, but doesn't always fit on top of Uli's playing (at least live)...I have the CD also, but haven't had time to dissect it yet...

And your own Sky guitar??? That's off the hook!!!! Nice job!

After I calmed down a bit, I asked Uli about his relationship with 17th Street Guitars (the guys that were to manufacture that design of the Sky guitar), and he said it went south pretty quick after NAMM 2006 (when it was rolled out) and the company went under soon thereafter.

Here's a pic of one of the first "production" models, as unveiled at NAMM 2006:

Note the wide space at the 24th fret...there a single-coil hiding under there...crazy stuff!
