Wassup JS!! Well Jason needs no introduction. I introduced Jeff Loomis to this forum when I joined here..late 2001/early 2002 I guess. I don't mean actually bringing them here to chat, even tho I did suggest that to Jeff a while ago..but he's prolly much too busy. That would fuggin' rule..he did play Jackson. Alexi was extremely bitter when I mentioned Jackson tho, that's right when he went with ESP!!!

No, I'm going to start a thread on an incredible guitarist that gets absolutely NO mention or recognition here..that's what I mean.

Saw Uli last night at Jaxx in Springfield, Va. Godlike...that's all I can say.

He and the band did a meet-and-greet after the show, so you should be in good shape, Bill. He's a very nice man, and his entire band are really cool, also. He's got Mark Boals doing the male vocals and his girlfriend Liz Vandall doing the female vox. He's selling the new album at the merch table, and his t-shirts are priced incredibly reasonably. He's playing New York on Saturday--wish I could go.

Both Mark and Liz do a fantastic job on vocals, and they alternate on the old Scorpions tunes. Boals hits some notes that Klaus probably hasn't been able to reach since 1978. And Liz Vandall was a very pleasant surprise--she was in a band called Sahara during the '80s-'90s and is one of the best female rock vocalists I've ever heard.

I won't spoil it for you, but I suspect you'll be VERY happy with the setlist.

- holy smokes - that WAS Mark Boals!!! Liz was out sick when I saw them, but yeah - I was used to Mark as a redheaded longhair, not a 90's-era Bono!:ROTF:

Indeed, he hits some serious notes, but it took him a good half of the set to get going...thinking San Diego was one of the first stops on the tour...I really hopes he makes a DVD of one of the shows now that they're on!

I didn't recognize Mark either until Uli introduced him. Last time I saw Mark live was when he did Yngwie's "Inspiration" tour, and he had some serious poodle hair going on back then.

After the show, Liz said that they are hoping to do a DVD, but she didn't sound certain. They had a cameraman with a professional handheld at this show and a condenser mic at the front of the stage pointed out at the audience, so there may have been some kind of DVD-related activity going on. They really should do one, because this entire band is fantastic. It would also be a good way for Uli to recoup some of the touring costs, because I can't imagine he's making a bundle of money playing small places.

BTW, in a couple of weeks they are playing Strasbourg, France on a bill with both the Scorps and Michael Schenker. Wouldn't that make a nice road trip!!

All I can say is..... Wow....


I can't say I've seen a more intriguing show in... well... I'm not sure... I'm just blown away. And Uli is a seriously nice guy. If you get the chance, see this tour... It's truly mandatory.
