Slash - Jackson Firebird?

I'm sure that I'm the last to notice this, but on the inner booklet of the G'n'R Appetite... CD, there's a couple of live shots of Slash holding what appears to be a Jackson Firebird.
Anyone got any information on that one?

Yes he used a Firebird with Floyd rose...

In some points of the album you can hear they're using a trem equipped guitar and I bet she's that girl.

Could be, but he used to use a bunch of BC Rich guitars a lot, especially his old Mockingbird which he had to sell and then bought back. That was his main trem guitar. He did have a bunch of Jackson and BC Riches and intended to record Appetite with them until he heard how shitty they sounded when played back...his words. That is when he received the Derrig '58 copy and played that on the entire album, with the exception of some trem parts.

I read an article a long time ago that Slash had a Jackson Soloist and a Firebird. He tried using one of the two on songs for Appetite, but never could get the tones he was looking for. Seems the article mentioned that he later discovered that the neck had a twist in it.

yeah, the black firebird has the "slash" tattoo on the bottom bout. pretty cool, imo.

It was a black firebird...red Jackson headstock logo I believe...sharkfin inlays...2 hums & a Floyd...with Slash's tattoo painted on the body...painted by Dan Lawrence.

There aren't many pics of it around...but I remember a few years back when someone (I don't remember if it was Dan himself) posted some pics from Dan's photo album of his work...there was a good pic of it in there.
