They have a huge future in country music when their huge present in radio rock starts to wane - I think Mutt sees this too.
I won't listen to them for more than a minute, but I have to give them credit for the formula. It's the best of the worst in my book!

IMO they are better than anything Def has done in 22 years!

first of all, there are a lot of pop songs that don't follow that formula
there's one arrangement element which is a lot more important to change the mood/vibe/course/whatever within the song... it's called dynamics
that being said, following the common formula doesn't mean the songs isn't good... what matters is that the song has a strong hook and is memorable... and it's pretty hard to write something like that... every professional musician I've heard talking about this subject has said that writing a good hit tune that all the people would like is the hardest thing to do... by far. You can write jazz chord progressions over 17/8 beat but that doesn't make it high quality song writing... no one cares about it unless it has a strong hook."There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I don't like the new Nickelback song, but my 11 month old daughter does, she dances any time it comes on. Music is meant to be enjoyed - even if it's a baby loving it, it's still cool.
I have their "Silver Side Up" album and it's a solid rock record, I like it a fair bit. Not my favourite band, but they're miles better than anything else I hear on the radio in the UK. At least they play distorted guitars.
As for Mutt not being on any Def Leppard albums recently - he's pals with Phil Collen and collaborates with him, probably more than we realise. He certainly contributed to "Euphoria", and probably even more than that. Besides, the new Def Leppard album is a fucking blast - about 70% of the songs are great and the filler isn't half as bad as their other recent stuff.
Don't worry about Mutt Lange - get the new Krisiun album!

What I think is funny is how you like Nickelback but think Def Leppard have no balls.
You being such an adult and all? Presumably you don't like anything other than death metal (and Nickelback)?

My point was that two many people judge a band by what they hear on the radio.Last edited by Robert Hendrix; 09-30-2008, 10:13 PM.Prosecutors will be violated...
