That's nothing Stu Hamm, Michael Manring, Jeff Berlin, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool Stanley Jorden, and even I haven't done in 25+ years..

    Wooten..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9a4ThBNacY&NR=1

    Stu Hamm 20 years ago..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHHYWiTSNcI&NR=1

Stanley Jorden 20 years ago.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHZTyfKseZE&NR=1

    Michael Manring.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js93qxDlIzg

There's a shitload of youtube stars..like that one dude that plays Toto's "africa"..he's pretty fuggin' awesome, and that little asian kid tappin' Canon. There's also some 43 string fuggin bass player that kicks my ass..but I haven't heard him "funk" ..so there...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5fYw...eature=related

Yeah, it's a big guitar but the technique is far from impossible "Impossible"..Tony Levin has been doin' that on a Chapman stick for almost 30 years.

My fave is that fat fuck with his strat playin' "Impossible" or "Insane" guitar..that dude kills...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATub4...eature=related

      Michael Hedges (RIP)
Kent State performance of this legendary tune. Michael looks really young here. Some good shots of the fingering etc. Tuning: C2C3D3G3A3D4. Sheet music:...

I won a Windham Hill Records 12" sampler in school in the '80s. Aerial Boundaries was on it, and it was the only thing on the record at the time that really jumped out at me. Michael was awesome. I do have that cassette somewhere, gotta go dig through the closet and see if I can find it now.

Y'know the tappin' thing is the easiest thing in the world once you have it down...its really a piece of cake. It sounds like much more than what's actually going on.

Don't laugh, but learning this song is THE hardest songs/riffs I ever learned in my life. To me the outro bass riff in this song is the closest thing to "impossible". There is alot of "ghost note" groove slappin'/playin' that you don't hear in the mix..I'm tellin' ya...its a uber bad mofo .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tgWS...eature=related

I had doubts about this dude's limp wristed style, but he does a decent job. WAIT for the bridge and outro..Louis Johnson plays with much more power/energy!! Ooohhhh.. he's playing the supportive bass part, there's much busier bass line on top of that..I thought he just kinda sucked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcFjl6shqs4&NR=1

I still play "Stomp" note for note..you never forget a song you put hundrdes of hours into. Yep, metal/rock bored me to death to play..I got all my bass chops from that kinda shit. I actually HATED disco, if I only knew a few years later.

I've gotta start playing more and get my chops up again. I used to be pretty decent at tapping (even a little with the left hand). I wish I could do the 8-finger tapping thing like Jeff Watson, though! I need to buckle down and get back into things.
Those vids are cool, too. I do have a bass laying around, I should start playing that more with my fingers instead of a pick.

                              Dude..Its "STOMP"!!!

I played the video and then some dude playing the supporting bassline except the bridge and that crazy ass outro riff. Learning Louis Johnson gave me more calluses than Steve Harris, Billy Sheehan, Geddy Lee and John Mayung combined!!!

Man, he spanks it hard..and so do I. I break bass strings more than guitar strings!!! They're expensve!!
