you know Tommy won many guitar contests in Cali years ago... they gave everyone those packing track CD's to choose a track (there were dozens of 'em) they like and practice on it... durning the contests everyone used a track called "metal" and after 20 contestants or so everyone in the audience had shit coming out of their ears because of hearing the same fucking tune all over again... then came Tommy with his magic Charvel (elvis) and a "funk" track... and wiped the floor with all the yngwies there... he even made a state record

Shoulda got in when the aussie dollar was doing good, now its gonna be really tough to step up into a 7 again. Jackson has one more namm to floor me, then its off to baritone 7 land again.

I know!:ROTF: I have 2 great ones , that I've actually spending a lot of time on lately. Just busting some balls.
It sometimes bugs me how much negative feedback 7's get on this forum.
the whole "Korn" NUMetal stigma that has been attached to them is so passe' .
guys like Loomis, Petrucci, Broderick, Andy James, tom Kopyto, Tony MacAlpine, they opened my eyes up the 7 string 'shred" possibilities.

I don't think I could ever go back to just owning 6's (and I never tune down my guitars, never have) I like the extra range B string gives me
and I find wider necks just more comfortable (my blue GMW is a 1 3/4 nut) .

Bill those look interesting I will be getting in touch with them with some questions.
I've been thinking about geting a custom 7

I don't either. Though for me it's more of a laziness thing.

Anybody who has the live stuff, how good is Born. That will make or break the album/DVD for me. That's my favourite Nevermore song so I hope it's good.

I can only tell about the Wacken version, because I was there...

I remember it being pretty friggin awesome and Warrel seemed to want to break the Wacken crowd surfer record...

                Warrel is a silly fucker...

He's one of my faves..he writes amazing lyrics! His delivery is so unique and distinct. Alot of singers try to imitate his style. He's one of the few singers getting known that has a "style"..

working from home today and I've got TYOTV playing. Didn't notice it last time I watched (and it's not on the CD) but Warrel announces that Heart Collector, Van signals for a circle pit and launches into Born!!! "Psych!" :ROTF:

I'm glad to see even a band like Nevermore have the odd WTF moment on stage

Bustin' balls is necessary dude! I hate the anti-7-string movement aswell, I was never against them, just didn't see why they were needed until loomis guided the way. When korn came up I was already tuned to B on one of my 6s, so they were nothing new and rather smelly. I still have a 6 in B, prefer Bb but need baritone for that.

And where the fuck is this dvd!!! Nowhere around here has it, and ezydvd says 'distribution delay - no release date set'. Worse still, G keeps bangin' on how awesome it is making my patience shorter still

Isn't that the studio audio? Are all the tracks this way or is it just that one track because they released it as a single or something?

I think Jeff should start doing a few solo spots because he's obviously got the technique, he should flaunt it.

BTW yesterday I found Nevermore concert footage on Youtube... a whole concert from '99.
I'd take that concert over the actual DVD anytime... lots of old songs, no fast cuts every two seconds or other crap, unpolished performance plus Jeff Loomis playing a Jackson Rhoads.

And the sound quality on those vids is just as good and transparent as anytime I've seen them live for real.

Can't believe that footage got only a few hundred hits... it's been up on the 'tube for months.

Song 7I filmed this @ Twisters (Richmond, VA) in June 1999 on the Dreaming Neon Black Tour. It was a great night with one of the nicest bands ever.

That and the other vids from that user.
