I sat through the Fallout Boy version of this because I heard John Meyer did the solo & wanted to see how it went. No idea if it was Meyer or not, but frankly the effort.....sucked? I don't like to say any playing sucks, but it seems here whoever was playing was trying to capture the insanity & atmosphere of EVH's original but instead came off almost like a Muzak version of the original.

If he had just gone in his own direction, instead of aping EVH, except without the chops, it might have been cool.

actually it was more the other way around... tons of rock fans brought Thriller because Ed played on it.

Even though it's the best selling album in the history, Ed was a session musician there, he wouldn't get any royalties from it.

It is absolutely brilliant album although I prefer old Jackson 5 stuff more.

I did not like this solo of Mayer. I am sure he is capable of doing a better version of the solo. He is a talented blues guitarist.
