  • W.A.S.P -pickup question

Which ones did they use. Apparently, Chris Holmes used a Seymour Duncan distortion. Which Dimarzio did Blacke use on his Warlock?

I didn't know that about the SH6, that's good to know. I play WASP tunes on my KV (tuned to Eb) which has a JB. It's close enough of a tone for me.

Didn't Randy Piper use a JB on the first couple WASP albums? Blackie played bass then.

There's a member of this forum who posts vids of himself playing WASP songs on guitars just like Chris Holmes' ones - I thought he'd have replied to this thread. I figure he'll know the answers. He sounds a lot like Chris which is pretty hard to do!

He was til 1985/6. Jonny Rod took over bass and Blackie changed to guitar on "Inside the Electric Circus".

And didn't he switch back to bass again within the past few years? Or did he again switch back to rhythm guitar? :ROTF:

As far as I knew, Blackie's been playing rythm guitar ever since Inside the Electric Circus?
Mike Duda was the last WASP bass player I remember the name of - fuck he's had that many guys in the band over the years I forget who's been in and out. Maybe it was Stet Howland? Was he the drummer?
Whatever, "Dominator" is a pile of shite, it's time Blackie got a producer in, found a fat guitar tone and stopped sacking good guitar players like that guy from Tuff. Seriously, his leads were fucking sweet!

I actually haven't bought a WASP album in a long time. I've got the old stuff up to KFD. I didn't care too much for Still Not Black Enough, but KFD I loved. I thought I heard he switched back, but maybe he's just playing both guitar and bass on the albums.

I love KFD too, it's a great album.
I don't think Blackie's played bass on anything at all recently though. He played the drums on "Black Bone Torso" but I think he's stuck to guitar apart from that.

Crimson Idol is a great CD Bob Kulick absolutly smoked. The leads have so much feeling and the tone is outstanding.Blackie did bass and rhythm.
I saw an old close up pic of Chris's yellow star and to me the pickup looked like a staggered pole bass pickup.
I'm sure Chris used a lot of different pickups over the years.ALZ may know he and Chris are pretty close.
Met Randy Piper at a guitar show in Columbus Ohio what a great guy and one tall MFer.
                              Really? well screw Mark Twain.
