Saw Metallica last night in Denver and was very pleased with the show, huge crowd, high energy, they sounded really good. They can still fire up a crowd and get everyone singing every song throughout.
Good mix of songs from all the albums, except St. Anger didn't crack the set list, ha ha.
My faves of the night were Ride the Lightning, Damage Inc. and For Whom the Bell Tolls. They were so tight on those arrangements and were as full speed as I could tell. Kirk nailed everything.
The show was "in the round" so Kirk had no less than four wah pedals at his disposal as he circled the stage. He played his ass off though, it was great to see.
Kirk played mostly his ESPs, three of the KH series, a couple Vs (red and a black/gold split) a Les Paul and he broke out his black Jackson RR1T to play Sad But True.
James played a variety of his ESPs, the Les Paul models, the explorer models and a flying V.
They stayed on stage probably 10-15 minutes after the show when the lights went on, just tossing handfulls of picks into the crowd.
Was awesome to see them again for someone who was there in 1983 and flew the Metallica flag back when it meant getting some weird looks in school cause you weren't into U2 or Duran Duran or something.
