    Yep..it is.

Bro, I'll have the Marshall long after your next two rigs are a memory. I'll make sure to remind you.

It all comes down to what you do with it..

You sir, said that your CAE can duplicate tones that were made with a cheap Marshall Valvestate 8200.

Hmmm ..Glen Drover played thru John's VHT/CAE and used a SD-1 to duplicate what you hear on any Eidolon album..a cheap 8200..but it sounded good...damn good!

        Mine sounds better..

Chucks valvestate tone is better than the majority of metal tones out there. Not to mention because he used such little gain, it didn't sound like it had a solid state power section.

Definitely better than majority the nasal/brittle and thin Marshall tones.

Most of the tone comes from the X2N pickup.

Plus, I clearly said with "tube feeling."

It still stands VHT > Marshall.

I hear what your sayin'. Also, alot of the tone is in the hands of the player of course, and player like Chuck are awesome!

But IMO opinion Boger > VHT

My Uber is the most impressive sounding amp I've ever heard...for my style, which is along the lines of Arch Enemy, Nevermore, Testament, Eidolon and ect. I'm strickly an original metal guitarist.

But everyone, including myself thinks I play and sound best with my Marshall. I also think John sounds best when playing my Marshall..especially when he's doing his Criss Oliva stuff.

Both amps sound amazing together, whenever playing along with my son, who has become quite a player. Playing with him has improved my playing more than the last 30 musical years combined. They blend like no other amps I've ever heard together. I was BIG into blending 4 different various half stacks at once with a custom made switcher going on 20 years ago. Including 5150, Recto, Soldano, Mesa Mrk III, Ampeg Lee Jacksons, Shitloads of Marshalls and ect. Like someone said, Bogners are thunder and Marhshall is the lightning. I've actually tweaked the Bogner to sound like the Marshall..with much less gain and bottom than I've ALWAYS used. Now, its more focused than ever thought possible. But, the Marshall still wins in sheer volume, mid range cut and especially definition. The Uber is thge most brutal sounding sumbitch I've heard..but it can be very tamed!

I liked every VHT head I've ever tried, which is quite a few. I immediately play VH stuff whenver playing with one. BUT, reguardless of anyone's complaint of build qualities,..I haven;'t had a single hiccup since '96, it still has the stock tubes, 'cept for one preamp tube...I much prefer my rig or the new JVM.

I own my favorite gear. If or when I hear an amp better than my own...I'll buy it. I'd like to take a JVM home to play over my kids drums. I wish that was a two channel amp, the other two are are total throw aways to me. Honestly, like any of my gear it could be a single channel amp..my guitar's volume knob and my touch is all I rely on.

The CAE+3 a pleasant sounding unit for what it does, and I can play thru it just fine..but it just doesn't inpire me in the slightest. The first thing I go for is the presence control, because alot of the edge is rolled off. But, you gotta use what works best for you. John hasn't been totally content with that preamp since day one. Maybe I'd like it better if it was mine, I dunno. I've been extremely happy with my Marshall since '96. It's the most "consistant" amp I've owned. Which allows me to create, play and write music instead of endless hours, weeks, months and years knob twiddlin' and tweakin' for any sign of inspiration. Amps I prefer these days are ones I can't make sound "bad"..which doesn't include Rectos, 5150s, XXX, Krank, DSL/TSL, and even the CAE for example. The 5150 is the pick of the litter in that group, only because I know what I'm doing with 'em. They can sound like total ass if you don't. Amps I can gel with instantly include VHTs, JSX, JVM, Bogner, SLO, various Marshalls especially mine, even a POD pro into a Mesa 2:90 or Strategy 400..and from what I heard on vids/clips..Splawn, Engl, Framus, Deizel, Carvin V3, Randall RM100..which are some amps that seem up my alley and love to try. I'm sure The Fish sounds great, It's a Bogner, but I'll know in 30 seconds if it has enough balls for me. I don't believe in slamming the front with pedals. If you rely on a 50 dollar fuzz box with a $1000+ amp, you need another amp IMO. But, That's just me.. Exceptions are Marhshalls such as a SLP, JTM, JMP, 800, 900, and many do well with DSL/TSL.

Shit, recently I plugged into a cheap B-52 halfstack and was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking of buying it for my kid. But he wants something more useful like a new video game unit..

I agree that Bogner has better preamp sections than the majority of amps, but without a tight and powerful power section it doesn't do much for me.

Amps like the Uberschall don't do anything for me because it's a bunch of gain I don't need and I don't think it sounds too great at lower gain stages. I think the XTC is a far superior amp.

                I never use pedals.

I need power and clarity when I play.

Funny thing is, I've never even played on a bunch of VHT heads. But the 2150 is considered the best power amp ever made for a reason.

There was a Bogner Triple Giant though. It was limited but it was produced before he sold the design to Hafler. I played one at a guitar center at the time I had a Hafler I saw it and I had to try it out I was amazed if I had the cash I would have picked it up.
