Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

Can't really say I seek out such songs. I prefer not to dwell on loss and mourning. That way lies madness.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

How about Bon Jovi's "Never Say Goodbye." I remember many years ago a friend worked at a local college radio station during the mid 80's. He said that one day he got a request for this song from a guy who wanted it dedicated to his girlfriend who had just been killed in a car accident. He said that the whole station crew just sat there in silence and had tears in their eyes when the song played. Since then, I don't know why, but everytime I hear that song, I think of that story.

They have a few others like that, Skalds and Shadows comes to mind. Hansi's voice is a big part of why Blind Guardian has been my favorite band for about a decade now.

You should hear The Tangent - In Earnest from their c.d. "A Place in the Queue". A very good album.

Knowing the tragic reason why that song was written, it amazed me that Clapton could perform it live without breaking up.

If anyone's too young to remember, have to be some young'ns here, Clapton's 4 year old son fell like 50 stories to his death from a NY city apartment window.

In my darkest hour. about the death of cliff burton, one of my favorite bassists. You might not find it tear jerking as much as just moving but who cares it kicks ass!

"When's its love" by Van Hagar..it brings tears to my eyes...because it's so fuggin' gay.

Once they were a band that wrote songs like "Light up the sky"..
