  • Any Lynch fans out there-g lynch...

Hey has anyone one noticed for a guy thats thing is flated fifths, all his tunnings are sharp? 1/2 really 1/4 standard is also sharp on a number of songs....I guess some could be due to track being spead up[but I really dought it]somethings are standard or 1/2 step down....kinda gotta own 10 guitars to play eighties music guess i need three more:think:

all the dokken stuff is sped up. Chains is standard, tooth and key e flat but sped up slightly, attack standard but sped up slightly. The lynch mob stuff i think is e flat but sped up slightly. Speeding up the record slightly was very common in the 80s especially with bands like wasp although a few bands like pantera used to tune a quarter step down coz it was the best sounding tuning and have the sound a bit more of an edge...

Personally, i hardly listen to chains, attack has too many parts so you can't get the sound as a whole with one guitar, so that just leaves 4 albums that are in e flat, which solves the problem of learning lynch stuff!!

Tuning down a quarter step?!? Records being sped up?!? That's the first I've heard of any of that. I know record and cassette tape players tend to drift as far as timing goes. CD players...not so much. Also, guitarists and bassists used to tune to each other instead of a tuner. Half step tuning is another matter of course.

It was kinda standard fare back then.

Yeah but intentional? Or for the reasons I gave?

Also the analog tape recording equipment used back then would have introduced timing irregularities.

or like other guitarist of his day[he just wanted to fuck with those learning his licks] but the tunning to your bass player sound more probable then spedding up in my dreams which is not a fast song?????

you CAN increase pitch without affecting tempo.....

i know i've definately read in chris holmes interviews that they deliberately used to speed the tape up whilst his guitars were always tuned in standard e flat...

...also who tunes to a bassist? i've never known anyone do that...

Yeah you're probably right. Last time I asked a bassist for an "A" I got the deer-in-the-headlights look.
