I love my boss... He keeps me informed of this stuff =)

Neither Cavalera is in the band now right? So what's left? Paulo Jr - did he ever write any of the classic stuff? He seems to be the most uncharismatic guy ever. And Andreas Kisser, a guitarist whose style I never liked very much.
Derrick is a great singer though.

This band is not Sepultura. I lost interest after Arise to be honest - Chaos AD was okay, Roots was utter shite, Nation was okay. They're not a band worth bothering about any more IMO, and haven't been since I saw them on the Arise tour.

I didn't like the new Cavalera album either. They've all lost it.

The new Sep is a 'weird' one. It's kinda cool. It grows on you.

The CC is a straight-up aggro/crusty/hardcore event. I digs that more that the new Sep though. It's apples & oranges.

Alright! I was aware they had a new one coming out and I was just thinking about it yesterday. I buy every Sepultura cd and always dig'em- the tunes, the tones, the concept, the artwork- everything. You can go round and round about what they are and aren't, but they are what they are- four guys who don't give up and stay true to themselves. Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly Conquer sure as heck are killer awesome recordings and I can't wait to kick back and check out the new Sepultura. Hey, what 57 year old grandfather of 4 do you know who has a Sepultura tat on one forearm and a Soulfly tat on the other. Ha!

I have to agree the artwork on Sep albums is pretty much always awesome, and the website in the link stays true to that.

I was hoping this would be about Max,Andreas,Paulo, and Igor....

I am a huge fan of the older stuff like Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation, Beneath the Remains, Schizophrenia, Arise, Chaos A.D., and some of the Roots material.
Didnt care for Sepultura after that or Soulfly either for that matter. I do like C/C alot though, and it kinda has some moments of their old style in there.
IMO Sepultura aren't the same without Max and the Beneath the Remains line-up....
I'm a purist in some respects because I usually only like the first incarnation of most bands. It's hard to compare bands once the line-ups change, but most times I dont care for them..

the closest to an original Sepultura album you'll hear right now is Soulfly - Dark Ages has that Chaos vibe to it. Here's hoping for a reunion! Anyway, the de-tuned Derrick stuff isn't Sepultura to me in anything but name. Now that Igor is out they really ought to have the guts to change their name rather than hang on to it by the skin of their teeth.

I think I'm in the minority. I don't like Sepultura all that much before Beneath the Remains (apart from the odd song), and I don't like them all that much after Arise.
Those two albums were pretty much thrash metal perfection, nearly on a par with And Justice For All, Reign In Blood or Rust In Peace. Sepultura were one of the best bands ever at that point. I have the Arise LP signed by the whole band, I wonder if it's worth anything...Doubt it.
                    But everything else is just...meh.

Are you planning on selling it?

Nah, it has nostalgic value. Every time I think of it I remember how I sold my picture disc "State of Euphoria" LP to get bus fare for the Sepultura gig, and how pissed I was when the gig was as boring as fuck and I wished I had kept the Anthrax LP.

Yeah I havent been online much lately because I made a New Year's resolution to play more guitar and spend less time on the internet talking about guitars. So far so good.....

Anyways I agree that Sepultura were as good or better than anything Metallica ever did, in fact they were my fav band back then, aside from Sabbath, Priest, and Maiden. I liked everything up until Chaos, and a few select tracks from Roots like I said.
Their first albums were Thrash Metal perfection kinda like the Sabbath of their era.

Either way I'm just glad that Max and Igor are on good terms. As long as those 2 are playing together, something good will result for sure.
Igor is a bad ass drummer too, some of his tribal/double bass shit is brutal. One of the best of his time thats for sure.
I found my old Sepultura cassette tapes from High School Those were the days man

Sepultura, well, Max at least, LOOKED as cool as fuck to me around the time of Arise. He was exactly what I wanted to look like as a metal fan. Not facially or anything, just his whole style. He looked as cool as fuck - more modern than the older guys like Maiden, but still classic metal.

I got the new A-LEX cd by Sepultura yesterday and cranked it up this morning about 5:30 a.m. It's solid all around- drums, bass, guitars and vocals totally kick it and sound excellent. It's just what you would expect from this band, a natural progression from their last cd DANTE XXI. Andreas Kisser is the Riffmaster General, the man has a mean right hand and his lead tones are his own.
