I have to seriously disagree with you on that. Flesh and Blood and Cry of the Brave are great songs. How can one go wrong with Ray Gillen and Glenn Hughes on vocals?

I was recently turned on to Richard Jessee project... he has some very cool stuff which is tough to classify. But if I was forced to, I'd call it a shreddy fusion of funk, prog, rock and jazz. Highly recommended!

Besides all of the stuff that's already been mentioned. (loomis, satch, mac, becker etc)

Greg Howe - Parallax and Uncertain Terms
          Howe and Kotzen - Tilt
          Prashant Aswani-Revelations
Andy James -In the Wake of Chaos (great 7 string shred)
          Tony MacAlpine -Chromaticity
          Planet -X - Universe
Michael Harris - Sketches from the Thought Chamber
Blotted Science - the Machantions of Dementia
Joe Satriani - An Anthology (this basically has most of his best stuff on it)
          Al Dimeola- Elegant Gypsy
Dream theater has some great instrumentals too
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Do they sell a different version of Sacred Groove in LA?

Marq Torien wasn't on any of the songs on that album. Are you speaking of "We Don't Own This World" with Matthew and Gunnar Nelson? Because any other vocals on the album are Hughes and Gillen.

I agree, the Beast 1 and 2 are probably the weakest songs on the album.

I occasionally enjoy Chris Poland's Return to Metalopolis, but on the whole I'm not a big fan of instrumental albums.

yeah i guess ur right, i never looked at the credits, on one song hughes kinda sounds like torien, there is another vocalist on that album ; mandy lion(2 songs) if u wanna get technical. But needless to say , there were great instrumentals on that album, love power from the mama head, i will remember, tierra del feugo.

Word is that he's working on it right now.

And I have never really considered Mandy Lion a vocalist. More like a growlerist. At least from the perspective of Sacred Groove.

The thing I've learned with Lynch is, I'll believe it when I've got the cd in my hand. He said several years ago that he was working on an all instrumental release. Then he ended up doing the Lynch/Pilson record, the Lynch Mob Revolution record, that crappy covers record, the Souls of We, and now a new Lynch Mob cd with Oni Logan. He doesn't seem to do half of what he says he's working on. Oh, and he also said that he'd be doing the Dokken reunion this year and I don't see that happening.

Man, someone posted it before I got to!

James Murphy is really my only living hero! hahaha well there are more for guitar but, James really inspires me to play, all his lead work is amazing, to be honest most of the riffs are pretty simply stuff, but Convergance is a fuckin GREAT cd, songs like Vision, Shadows fall, and tempus omnia revelat are amazing!

                          also I LOVE

                          Gordian Knot- Gordian Knot
                          Gordian Knot- Emergent

if you guys have not heard those two discs then GO DO IT NOW, some of the best music out there to me!

                          Peace!

I have some of the more popular stuff mentioned, but what's not mentioned that I really dig is James Murthy's 2 cds Convergence and Feeding the MAchine, especially the 1st one. Yes, they're not 100% instrumental cds since they're guest vocals on a few tracks, like Chuck Billy, who kicks ass; but it's a damn good music.

Somewhere I have a couple older guitar mag-sanctioned cds with guest players such as zakk, gilbert, sheehan etc, Anyone else have these.

There's a few that stand out to me. Some of the more mainstream ones already mentioned by the likes of Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani, of course; Some less mainstream like, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Trans Siberian Orchestra is pretty cool.

Have you guys ever heard of an early project by Gary Moore called Colosseum II? I was totally into them in the late 70's. There album, Electric Savage was a standout instrumental album. I've got it and their Wardance album as well

Check out some of this nostalgia!
