In the 80s, we'd always wondered what it'd be like to see the original sabbath lineup...cut to the 90s, and saw em multiple times. So never say never,..but don't hold your breath. I like Zakk, but I would LOVE to see Jake take the slot. But honestly, I don't see Jake taking the effort to learn the later Zakk tunes.

I wish this were true, but I'm not holding my breath. I haven't bought an ozzy album since No Rest for the Wicked to hear what Zakk sounded like. Now, I know all too well what he sounds like.
Jake's playing on those 2 Ozzy records is what made them great and live he was on fire.

Jake E Lee in 1986 playing the solo at the end of Killer of Giants. For the guys at ultimaterhoads.com and jakeelee.com

So? Zakk never learned how to play Jake's stuff correctly.

Ok this might get me kicked in the head, but I was never a Jake fan on the ozzy albums. I liked him in Badlands, but (and from what i understand it was ozzy pushing it) his guitar tone to me and the fx used just never sounded all that great. The talent was there no question and what he was able to do was cool but i just never got into his guitar sound. that and those two albums seemed a little pop to me. i still like them don't get me wrong, but they just didn't feel like a step forward to me.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I am in the same boat as EAKINJ. I have just started getting back into the Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin CDs. Jake's talent and playing is incredible, but those two albums are nowhere near as good as the song writing and fire on the Badlands recordings. Screw Ozzy, get Badlands back together!!!

That's gonna be difficult, seeing as Ray Gillen is dead. I hear you, though.

It's not that I think Jake could, but I doubt he'd be into in it. But hey, I sure would like to hear his take on miracle man, etc. But honestly, there should be enough material that the Randy/Jake years would be enough, especially with the mandatory sabbath tunes thrown in.

Funny you say that because when I first heard Zakk (Miracle Man), I thought he was copping Jake a bit... I still think they are pretty similar in their approach. I remember feeling that the pinch harmonics were a nod to Jake since he did it alot himself. Zakk just over does it.

Wassup Steve, Yeah me too. I remember watching the "world premier" of that vid on MTV. I thought he was going for a BATM kinda solo. But when I got the record I thought he sounded like a mix of Frank Marino and John Sykes. Later I learned those two were huge influnces. His uber fast pent-box shapes are 100% Marino..and John Syke should get a royalty check everytime Zakk does a ping. Actually Sykes does just as many but they're not overdubbed and boosted in the mix. He does more "pings" live tho. Ozzy coined them "pings", and that they drive him crazy..

I like all the Ozzy players really. After NRFTW, he had writers, producers calling the shots. Zakk was really pissed about that..he actually wanted to kick Dave Grohl's ass. I remember in a GW he stated he had to play one of Dave's "piece of shit" songs live every night. Then he said "Fuck him and Shitvana, let's see Dave Growl play the solo to Mr. Crowley". He compared it to someone taking the guitar out of Eddie's hands and telling him to play this..It kinda makes sense.

It would be nice to let Zakk actually write the songs on the Ozzy records. He just does his "job". I got rid of anything after NMT. Ozzy's last couple just completely sucked balls!!! Fuggin' horrible!!!

"I don't wanna stop"..Please Ozzy, maybe you should.. just stick with Sabbath.

Maybe Jake did get the call. I think Zakk hit the wall with Ozzy years ago. He'll prolly stay on good terms with him and tour Ozzfest. I don't know what's up with Jake, that was a long time ago..and he had some very bad habbits. I don't know if anyone has this, but I bought his 1996 "A fine pink mist" . It is terrible!!

Maybe that John Holmes guy will do it again. He was good.

I saw him (Joe Holmes) with Ozzy in 95. I didn't miss Zakk at all.
I stilll would pick Jake over either of those other 2. Some non ozzy fest tour dates would be nice.

+1 - I think many Ozzy fans did the same.

The first Badlands album is one of my favs and I listen to it all the time.

                              Bill - Good post!

Yeah, and let's see Jeffrey the pretend biker write a song like "Learn To Fly" or "Best Of You".
Never was of a fan of Nirvana, but I'm damn sure I'd rather see a Foos show than the shit that Ozzy's turning out these days...
