Um, not quite. Here's one of the new songs from Metallica live. The band even admits that St. Anger sucks, so that's not a fair comparison. Sleepwalker is a the only song I like from United Abominations. Like I said before no Marty, no good... Hopefully Chris Broderick will change this.

I'm a HUGE Eidolon fan, so I'm prolly a smidge biased. I actually connect with Shawn/Glen Drover writing style much more than Marty's..and I love Marty. Broderick is a Jeff Loomis disciple..need I say more?

Metallica sucked the pole from 1991 to well now. "Death Magnetic" isn't the redeemer everyone says it is. "Deth fucked up with Risk and learned from that quick and without tongue kissing any of his metro-sexual bandmates.

Megadeth stayed metal. Metalilca did not! That's kinda inportant to a metalhead...ya think?

I'll have to go with Metallica on this one because I think they are better songwriters. James is a great rhythm guitar player, and though Kirk isn't the most technically perfect player in the world and has slipped in the last decade, he was very influential to me growing up. I thought his playing on AJFA and MOP was the tops. Hell I wore out two cassettes of AJFA I listened to it so much. I liked the Black Album too. Good production and catchy songs. Productions aside, I think Death Magnetic is an excellent effort and like just about every song on it. Never got into Load/Reload.

I don't like much of Megadeth's catalog really, with the exception being RIP and Countdown. I am a huge fan of those two records. The lineup Dave had (Marty, Nick, and Junior) was his best IMO. Marty's solos are always incredibly unique and inspiring. Actually, the main thing I like about 'Deth is Marty's playing. The songwriting was pretty good during that era as well.
