  • Jeff Beck's Guitar Tech

I wouldn't want to be him, or would I? Beck is hard on guitars. A new set of strings after sound check! The Tech describes Beck's #1 Strat as a parts mutt in the video. Did you know it has a Basswood body!!!! The neck is an older version with a backshape similar to the new ones. Not the baseball bat version.

The Surf Green Strat has been broken in half.

Here's the vid on YouTube with the Tech.
Jeff's guitar tech Steve Prior gives an in depth interview about Jeff's guitars and beyond. Stay TUNED for more.

You can see it's an older neck version with a Wilkinson roller nut on the new DVD, "Live At Ronnie Scott's". It looks to be a "Vintage White" colour.
I got the DVD in BluRay and it's awesome in everyway!

I have a bunch of guitars in Basswood. I don't have a problem with them and like the tone, but they have to be babied, since they are prone dents and chips quite easily

I was just surprised, since most of Beck's guitars have been Alder.

I'm with ya. I figured that. I like my guitars to stay as pristine as possible. I'm just anal that way Of course, if I could play as well as Jeff Beck, I wouldn't be too concerned

At last month's show in Boston, he played one guitar for the whole show and just got a quick re-tune before the encore.

I'm sure when shit goes sideways he can be a nightmare, but on the night I saw him, he never asked for anything from the monitor guy or his tech.

Jeff Beck could tie some cat-gut to a boat paddle and still make some of the greatest guitar sounds one can ever have the priviledge of hearing.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

                Amen to that!

I saw him once about 10 years ago and it was probably the most stunning guitar performance I've ever seen. His playing goes beyond scales and licks, way beyond.

The thing I love most about Beck is his style SEEMS real simple like...Kinda almost like the way he plays should be common knowledge for anyone...Like his ideas and playing come so easy and natural that I sometimes think-damn I could have come up with that..But the reality is only he can...
