I missed it..but that had to be hilarious!!
The drummer (John Macaluso) in my band was the drummer for Yngwie at that time and also in Ark with Jorn.

Jorn never actually hit him he just threatened YJM and his wife (according to them) and YJM's wife had him arrested. They played an instrumental show that night, and John bailed Jorn out the next day. John quit a day or two later (after getting paid for the shows he had played).

When JMac was down here recording the album, ever night at dinner was YJM stories. They are priceless, and he is a ego maniac.

A long time ago my old band opened for Yngwie at Jaxx in Springfield. After loading our gear in we were told to leave the building so YJM could soundcheck. So we left the hall and sat down in the dinning room. A few minutes later his manager came out and told us to leave the building completely. So we went out and sat on the curb until the prick was done with his soundcheck.

Hahahahahah. My friends band opened for Yngwie once and he kicked them out of the venue while he was sound checking, that's quite funny..

See if you can remember some stories from the dinner table.

The only one that comes to mind was when they were recording an album. John tried to close his hihats for part of the song and Yngwie stop and yelled at him to never close the hats. So his hats are 2" apart for the whole disc. The funny part is John's impression of YJM's accent.

When ever we had a part that needed open hats, I'd request "Yngwie Hats".

Most of the humor is the YJM impressions and impressions of his wife, who is apparently a bigger rock star (in her own head) than he is. Oh, and the mother in law came to the studio as well...

very cool! I loved Ark. The whole band was great. Was John with Yngwie at the same time as Randy Coven? If so, I may have seen him play when they came to Brisbane

I think John and Randy were in Yngwie at the same time. I know they've done a lot of things together in the last 10 years...

I remember Yngwie's first time in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), he was sweating a lot because of the summer. I don't know if it was annoying him, but during an autograph session made in a metal store, a fan (one of the store's employee) ask him to sign a big poster where he appeared in a short tiger jacket (I think it was Trylogy era). Really cool poster! But Yngwie refused to sign it because he hated those clothes and said he'd never use that again.
Another interesting stuff is that in the end of the line to get his autographs was a guy with a guitar in the case (there was a lot of kids that brought their guitars to YM to sign them, and a lot of piece of shit came out. And Yngwie looked like a little boring seeing those poor guitars). Then this kid's time had come and when he opened up the case he just pulled out a red 68' Fender Statocaster. Then Yngwie immediately stand up ad yelled : THAT'S a guitar!!! And he kept asking the kid if he wanted to sell the guitar to him.
Strange situation! I really doubt that Yngwie would buy that guitar in that circumstances, but at the same time, the poster kid saw yngwie smiling and ask him to sign the poster, one more time. Yngwie close his smile and said: I fucking said NO!

At NAMM a few years ago my friend got to ride with his friend, Yngwie, and Yngwie's wife to a clube show that Yngwie was performing at. He said Yngwie ignored everyone in the limo and that his wife talked about him like he wasn't there.

Alright im prepared to get burned but Dime wasnt that amazing> hes overated but so is yngwie. Dime isnt the most technical player. He may have more soul but hes not more technical

Not trying to be on bad terms just my opinion. He may be good but there are many who stomp on him.

first of all dimebag wasn't overrated alive, death does make a legend out of a guy. I personally can listen to dime solo and wank alot longer then yngwie. Technically is starting to become a over used term in my opion. In the 80's technical meant you understood what you were playing and why you were playing it (theory), not how fast your fingers moved across the fretboard. So in that since malmsteen is leeps and bounds "technically" more advanced then dime. It all comes down to what grabs you by the po po. neither one is better, your ears just dislike one more then the other.

Lets not turn this into a Dime vs Yng topic, because that's not the point. There are some cool stories though!

Also, seriously, in terms of Technique/Lead playing, Yngwie destroys, in terms of Groove/Rhythm Dime destroys. Let it go, it's the truth.
