Reb has always been one of my faves. The way he taps sounds so cool and unique, and his rhythms and solos always have excitement to them. Hard to believe he doesn't use his pinky!

Aside from his playing skills, he's one of the coolest people you could ever meet. I've told my stories about him here in the past so I won't repeat myself, except to say that he's a first class dude all the way.

              I love this song.

Great melody and not too over the top with the playing.

Yeah you can just tell he is a nice guy. Seen him a bunch of times now with different bands - Dokken, White Snake etc....

I also have his instructional vid. He sure looks different now from his vid!

I think his great tapping comes from his economy of motion.
He uses his middle finger, so that his thumb and forefinger are
always ready to pick a note. Makes him super smooth.

I saw him last night with Whitesnake in Poplar Bluff, MO. Reb seemed to be off his game a little, except during his solo. His sound wasn't good last night - really thin. He seemed irritated at times, like he was having some kind of equipment issue. His solo on Here I Go Again was barely audible. Aldrich on the other hand was totally on his game.

I get pretty burnt out of the 80's pentatonic whammy bar whoring thing pretty quick, but I like Reb quite a bit, he was clearly influenced by VH but added his own little twist on it... Aldrich is really good, but I swear that guy is the fucking one lick wonder.

Funny you say that...I was watching one of his vids earlier and thought the same thing. If I can learn that "one lick" of his, maybe I can join Whitesnake too!

He didn't look like that with Whitesnake recently! He looked like a strung out old deadbeat.
Played like a fuckin' God though, he was awesome, I really enjoyed his performance. Aldrich gets all the plaudits cos he LOOKS like a rock god, but Reb's the better player IMO.
Saying that, Doug really really rips it up on Tim Owens new album.

BTW that vid was awesome, thanks for posting!

The wife and I got to hand with Him and his wife for a couple hours. I blew him away about alot of session work that he did including with Twisted Sister. He stated "Those guys never met me" ..They didn't even know who I was. During our conversation he was warming up thru a Pod into a tiny Peavey Combo. That guy's playing is absolutely second nature. We were talking as he was tapping the craziest shit I ever seen. I didn't even know what he was talking about because I was too focused on WTF he was doing. I had this stupid blank stare on my face and asked what's the matter. I said "Dude, you're killin' me..you're niot even thinking about what you're doing, and you're killin' me". I asked he he liked George Lynch and he said he didn't became a really big fan of his until he had to learn all of his solos. I think he was more of a Lynch fan than a VH fan by then..He didn't play anything like Ed really. He definitely has his own thing goin' on.

I prefer him over Doug, but I do have all Doug's stuff including his Burning Rain stuff and he does kill at what he does, even tho mostly pentatonics stuff..but he sure has alot of feel and fire.

Funny, the wives were having their own conversation completely unrelated to guitar or music. But they hit it off really good which is kinda rare for my wife..
