Love them ...especially the tone he uses in the second solo.

Shit - I thought you were going to have pics of a pink powder coated Floyd. Now that would be cool!

My lifetime ambition is to master both solos...so far only the first part..
its an absolute masterpiece imo.. Just so much damn bending!
But NOTHING was ever cooler than Gilmore in "Numb"..

I love Pink Floyd. I actually like the solos he plays on his lapsteel better than the comfortably numb solo. But the dude is a guitar master.

This was the heaviest, darkest album I'd ever heard when it came out. It was a sort of "gateway drug" into metal for me. You can never tell if Gilmour is improvising or if he worked out his parts. His solos seem too good to be improvised, yet they always sound "in the moment" and not stiff and rehearsed. Amazing!

For me personally, THIS was Gilmour at his finest, just listen at the 6:30 mark to the absolutely VISCIOUS tone he had.

I never got the Pink Floyd thing. Or Rush either. I don't think they suck, it just doesn't move me. People have such strong feelings about both of them that it makes me wonder why they don't click with me. My reaction is just "meh."

Agree except I don't care that they never clicked with me.

** Well, i can understand that we all have different artistic likes, and
dislikes, but if your over 40... "Numb" says all there is about how fast life
passes you by, and what your youth did to your present day mindset imo.
For me, *and about 20 million others... Comfortably Numb" is the anthem for this cold bitter world we live in! So the solo is imo the
greatest solo of all time. Pure dripping emotion! I would bet that
Mr. Hellbat" is a young man?

Where is the video of Gilmore in the pouring rain? I think it was the fall of East Germany concert? He is starting his solo, and it just
starts coming down in buckets!! He doesnt care, and is wailing on his strat "Wireless", and water is pouring over his fretboard, and fingers!
It still gives me the chills, just thinking about it! Hes an icon and legend

Robert: his name is Gilmour not "Gilmore"

Don't you realise that by misspelling his name in that way you're betraying your preferrence in TV shows?
