    • Ozzy needs to give it up and retire, for real this time.

      • I wish Doug Aldrich would drop sappy ass Whitesnake and do the Ozzy gig.

        • I would think that if Ozzy's going to get a new guitarist, he'd have a reality show about it. That's the only real way to pick a new guitarist.

But what? Too much of a shredder? Too unknown? Do tell!

Abso-fuggin-lutely!!! I don't know much about Gus by why is it that most of the uber-shredders (MAB, Cooley, Suiçmez, etc) can't consistently write good tunes? WTF???

                      • That one is worth a thread of its own. Every player/musician is different, but it seems like lots of people get to a point where the technique dictates everything they do, rather than being a set of tools that they use tastefully only when it is called for. The tail wags the dog. But another way to look at it is to think of virtuosos in other instruments. For example, how many great violinists are known as great composers? They've spent thousands of hours on technique (elite ones at least 10,000 hours, supposedly), not focusing on songwriting, so maybe it's asking too much to expect the top shredders to be great songwriters.

Say what you will about Zakk, but he is an immense talent. He can play his ass off, has a great voice, can play muliple instruments well, etc... His image is kinda lame but most "images" are.

I don't own any BLS or Zakk era Ozzy stuff, but I can definitely recognize his talent. He can be a fiery player too, which I like. You can tell he means business and just goes for it. He's also had a hand is writing some of Ozzy's most memorable material (No More Tears was huge).

Don't forget... he played in Steel Dragon. That alone should be enough cement his place as a guitar god....

He's good..Just not that good... and I'm not saying that as if I'm any better..

If Ozzy wanted to replace Zakk, he should have gotten someone that can really play circles around him.

                            Kiko from Angra, possibly.

Well stated and it certainly makes sense.
