Ozzy ditching Zakk!

Well, this weekend should be interesting. It's the blizzcon convention where Ozzy is suppossed to be performing with Zakk. I'm tempted to but an online ticket to see if Zakk tries to bludgeon Ozzy to death with a coffin shaped guitar.

Again, Randall announced that Gus G is playing at Blizzcon.

He's good..Just not that good... and I'm not saying that as if I'm any better..

If Ozzy wanted to replace Zakk, he should have gotten someone that can really play circles around him.

Gus can certainly outplay Zakk IMO, but Ozzy isn't necessarily about getting the shreddiest shredder in Shredland in his band. I just think he rightly felt that his collaborations with Zakk had gotten stale.

Gus can shred but he's not a Michael Angelo Batio type shredder. He's pretty young and somewhat known, but he's not a complete unknown wet behind the ears.

He will certainly have no problem playing any of Ozzy's existing material. Whether he develops a writing chemistry with him remains to be seen. But you have to figure this is a good thing for both of them if they do get a chemistry going.

Even if he only lasts for an album or two, it will raise Gus G's profile in the US and be good for his career.

Actually, the better the player, the more of a waste it might be, depending on the constraints of playing with Ozzy.

The biggest thing with ozzy is the live show. Zakk DID have a hell of a stage presence back in the day. From the you-tube clips of gus g that i have seen, I dont see him putting on that kinda show, but time will tell.

Gus G is from Firewind. He is very very good....I first heard of him when he did a song on a tribute album to Yngwie. He did Little Savage. Really amazing job, one of the best cuts on that record. Then again, he is very very influenced by Yngwie.

He is Greek I think. Anyhow he's a great great choice. Good stage presence, very versatile and can really rip.

Try and listen to his take on Little Savage, you'd swear it was Yngwie himself...might be on spotify or pandora radio. Well worth hunting out.

That makes me appreciate Dave Murray and Adrian Smith all the more. The guy has horrible tone and makes a simple melody sound stupidly complex for no apparent reason. :think:

Really gotta disagree there about Gus outplaying Zakk. Gus doesn't have a sound of his own and his style is pretty boring and in terms of cutting heads I think Zakk could play circles around him. I haven't seen anything by Gus G that could impress me more then some of my friends around here..

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I've never thought Zakk was anything special, not that I'm a Gus G fanboy or anything, just that I have always found Zakk to be a bland fake-biker poser. But everybody has different taste and I know I'm in the minority with my opinion.

I think peoples biggest spike with Zakk is his image. Who gives a flying fuck how he dresses (look at bucket head :LOL: ) Just close your eyes, and get the head banging. Not sexual.
