Well alot of the well known "shredders" tried to switch gears when everyone didn't care about it anymore. Could you imagine making a living by busting your ass to become good as humnaly possible..then suddenly (grunge) nobody cares. But music is your bread and butter..therefore you try to do what is popular and it just fails. That has to suck.

I just watched from the sidelines and it sucked.
Yep - I went home and practiced for 3 hrs after that show ! lol I could not believe that Norum was the rhythm (and harmony) guy in that band. That is a well produced disc as well - they get some great tones on it

I know em'..Well, if it's the same band I'm thinking of, Marty Friedman produced one of their albums, and they had a lot of cacophony rip off passages. Still cool though!

Nick, That is correct..very good man!! My faves are the first two..especially their kick ass debut "The Forgotten Scroll".

..it's about a scroll..that was forgotten. Also known as The Lake Eerie Scrolls ..where all the fishies are dead...and that's why it's called "Eerie"..

Reading thru all of this, a name popped up that sounded really familiar and I couldn't figure out why. Then I hopped onto youtube and punched up a band that I discovered last week. Blotted Science. BINGO!!!!

                    My mind has been blown.

Wassup Travis, Ron Jarzombek is not from this planet. The only thing I haven't got around to grabbing yet is Blotted Sience. But I will eventually. I bust out his Sapstic Ink stuff to hold me over..that shit is crazy!

I have ALOT of music to catch up on. I've been slacking buying my metal goodies. I grab the main stuff that comes out I really want. Haven't indulged in ordering a couple hundred buck worth from The End or Century Media for a while. I used to every month for 15 years..I really miss it. But money is kinda tight these days.

I hear you about the money being tight. Things have not been the best over here for the past year or so. But, I just took a new job up in Chicago that will afford me the ability to purchase as much metal as I want. I'll be hitting you up in a few months for another list of must haves...

Billy White is the shit... at least he was on Up From The Ashes. The guitar playing on that disc is so friggin' awesome. I think there is a subtle tone difference between Billy's and John's solos on the cd, so you can kind of tell when John is playing. Billy definitely dominates.

I also remember when his Billy White Trio cd came out and thinking what a disappointment.

Funny true story about Billy and George Lynch. About a year after Up From The Ashes came out, I was at NAMM. George was signing autographs at one of the booths. He had a pretty big crowd. Who do I see standing off to the side? None other than Billy White himself. He was just standing there by himself waiting for George, looking anxious and nervous. When George finished his autograph session, he walked off at a brisk pace. Billy took off right behind him. I wish I would have followed to see what transpired when and if Billy caught up to him. Perhaps Billy had never met George and wanted to introduce himself. I'll never know.

Wow, you and me both. That's too funny. I'm sure Billy did or attempt to tell him he's the guy with Norum on UFTA..

I'm guessing that lil' meeting went either good or bad..

OMFG This interview made me spew my Captain Peanut Butter Crunch all over myself..Prolly NSFW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CQEi...eature=related

Honestly I think Dokken would be better off with our JCF bros like Fullmetal or George of Aftershock than Lynch these days. I KNOW George Lynch influenced him, and countless players (including me) ..but some players get worse or better with time.. facts of life.
