Divine Intervention is a cool album. It's nice to hear it again. Jeebus boys, mix it up a bit, yeah?

You want Slayer to change their style? That's like trying to get AC/DC to change, it ain't gonna happen, and that's a good thing. Metallica and Megadeth changed, look where that got them. Slayer is and always will be Slayer, changing their style would basically require them to sellout...Nevermore is Nevermore and can shift genres like they change clothes, but Slayer sticks with thrash.

          Exactly what I was thinking.
And saying Slayer don't change their style is total garbage - they changed their style on Divine Intervention and have sounded pretty shit ever since. Everything up until Seasons was brilliant, everything after has been boring crap that all sounds the same.

This is true, bands must keep their identity..they can "evolve" somewhat..but not too far off course..like Metallica, Queensryche, Dokken amoung others..it NEVER works!

Well, for Metallica it worked because most people are tools..but not for me!

Actually, the time they changed their style was on South of Heaven, when they went for some slow tempos. After that, they've always had their same brand of fast and evil thrash. If you wanna be a dyke you can count Undisputed Attitude as changing their style, even though that was just a cover album.

I bet this song sounds great live like Psychopathy Red sounded better than the recording. They have been recording weak sounding guitars and mixes since Christ Illusion. The sounds sound great live, but the production sucks all the heaviness out like liposuction. God Hates Us All sounded very heavy and not like this dry, and anemic sound.

Like most bands, it sounds better live than recorded.

People grow and want to play different stuff - there's nothing wrong with that. Stagnation = death.

It wouldn't be a change of writing style, since they didn't even write those songs, so there's no need to mention it.

I hated it but then again I hate anything after hell awaits. I feel slayer changed.

Um, who has the Unholy Alliance tour? Who plays to sold out crowds and has headlined a shit of load of important shows/festivals/tours? Slayer is anything but dead, so your point is discredited...so what if a few guys on the internet don't like them. They're obviously still popular if they can tour without having to support an album, and that tour sells out-but in the right way

And Dred I just added that because I have seen people who seem to think Slayer is a punk band because of that album -and they did write two songs on that album

And Vlover, I'd say it's better to sound better live-playing live is where it really counts. For all we know, an entire album could be done with autotune and studio musicians and not the real band. But in a live situation, the guitarists atleast have to show that they really can play the stuff

For some reason Americans like "change" even if it's bad. They just happily go with the flow. We are not the only place on the globe that has a metal fanbase..In fact, in the big pic. The Metal "scene" here is still pretty dismal. Every since around '91-'92. Just like I said, there was 40-50 here to see bands like Dokken..but they are in the THOUSANDS in Japan, Europe, Scandanavia, Brazil, and elsewhere including Mexico. Besides Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, Slayer, Megadeth, AC/DC, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Dio, Saxon, Anvil, ect..you got bands such as Morbid Angel, Deicide, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb of God, In Flames, Soilwork, Nevermore, Opeth, Exodus, Testament, and ect doing quite well making a living without ANY mainstream support whatsoever. It's to the point where bands such as Cynic, Atheist, Carcass, At The Gates, Sabbat, Confessor, Forbidden re-united because there is enough demand and support for REAL metal again..these are facts!

Some don't get this because they're simply NOT a metalhead. This is something only metalhedas understands The hordes you see united worlwide supporting bands mentioned above..at shows such as Stagefright, Download, Gigantour, Wacken, the last Ozzfest, and so on.

                            How do I know this ? I'll give you a clue...I'm 100% Metalhead.

You know horns Slayer and Megadeth are gonna tour Australia and New Zealand in October, not the US...I wonder if they're trying to tell us something about the American metal scene.

As far as I'm considered, keep giving me the bands that find their sound and keep it. The ones who are changing all the time change because they suck or because it's popular..with some exceptions. Metal isn't about sucking or getting those Top 40 hits.
