    • I avoided this thread for so long, but it seems I end up avoiding most threads that get tons of replies.. I don't really like Slayer, but I went into this with a open mind and this was fucking terrible. The tone was absolutely piss poor and sounds so weak and hollow.

Evolution is good for a band, Slayer hasn't evolved one bit.

This new song is pretty bad.

And saying Slayer don't change their style is total garbage - they changed their style on Divine Intervention and have sounded pretty shit ever since. Everything up until Seasons was brilliant, everything after has been boring crap that all sounds the same.
agreed! They stopped the badass demonic grooves and i lost interest!
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

This in part due to the taxation of the br00tlez, unfortunately it gets worse(have you heard Meatlica's last album(all of the tone was taxed right out of it)).

We need a save the br00tlez committee!!!

            • Like MBarre, I think that Slayer changed fundamentally after Seasons. I loved everything they did up to that point. I can listen to the first five albums for hours on end, while I can barely get through the later ones. I just can't get into their new stuff and it bothers me, because I WANT to like them.

Somehow I get the feeling that there is a lack of inspired songwriting in Slayer. Their new stuff is so feckin BORING. I don't know about you guys, but that's how I feel.

It's like they came to a breaking point where they just summed up their career with Decade of Aggro, and then just stopped writing good songs.

              • Slayer are one of my top 3 or 4 fav bands, but I have to admit that I kinda lost interest after the Divine Intervention album.
I have bought all of their albums thru the years, however each had but a few 'good' tracks in my opinion.

Kerry King has been pushing his BCRich starter kits, EMG sig pups, Kahlers,Amps, picks, and whatever else, and it kind of makes me laugh because he's becoming what he was against.

Was hoping that Lombardo would light a fire under their asses, but then again I cant judge an album by one or two tracks. I'll most likely buy this anyway cause like I said there's always a few good ones on each album.

Who produced this? Just wonderin cause the guitars sound kinda thin to me.

                • apparently the same dude who did death magnetic, can't remember his name though, theres nothing in the guitars at all.

sounds like someone plugged the guitars into a dishwasher instead of an amp.

I think its all a reaction to how the guitars on the black album sounded. Everyone always said it was like 15 guitars and what not, but to me when a song sounds "over produced" it sounds better than a "stripped down" sound all these bands are going for.

Imagine a band who's been around for 25 years WANTING to sound like their 1st demo!

I thought The 1st single "Red" sounded like shit, but it sounded awesome live! I like 99% of the stuff slayer has done since DAY ONE. They are my all time fav, but they need to have better sounding albums.
