I actually REALLY enjoyed the system has failed, but this is pretty damn sick! Compare this JEWEL to that piece of shit called Death Magnetic.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNRrn...eature=related only mildly amusing for like the first minute because it's 9 minutes of the same, but still funny none the less.

Pretty damn rare for a band to slip off the mark for so long and come back that strong, a band that wrote Bad Omen, then later is writing songs like "Crush Em" ?
Makes you wonder why the hell we had to endure the mediocracy for so long.
I can't believe i might be actually anticipating a Megadeth album again for the first time in 20 years.
Daves lyrics are either really good, or really bad, i mean his lyrics can be very intelligent and insightful or just plain dumb like um, "Psycotron".
I really liked Gears of War tho was thumping that earlier today, it's kind of generic in a way but still i don't know, the vocal lines and lyrics are killer on that song, the way they go to the riffs..straight Megadeth -
            what i want to hear,
Wasn't Psychotron about a comic book/cartoon character or something? It's an okay song either way.
            "Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer

"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

Why is there any need to bag on Metallica? They have nothing to do with this thread.

Because they don't get as much crap as they deserve. Death Magnetic is a joke.....while the not so inspired music was a good try that you could tell what they were trying to do..... But then Hetfield opens his mouth. The lyrical and vocal content is laughable.

Endgame, a true return to form from everything I've heard so far. Headcrusher and 1320 are badass furious metal tunes with diffrent topics but Dave never comes across like he was just fingerring thru a thesarus just to find 2 words that rhyme. I also have track 7, the title track "Endgame" I'm not gonna review it for you, go find it yourself and give it a listen, then you can join in and say "Fuck Metallica" just like I do.

It's a shame that the 2 albums came out in diffrent years.... I'd like to see Endgame wipe the floor with Death Crapnetic at the awards shows.
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

You guys realize that now matter how much better Endgame is, it will not sell as much as Death Magnetic or be recognized in the public eye like Metallica was. (Didn't they win a grammy for it?)

Megadeth is for underground metal heads, and old Metallica is also, but Metallica is simply more mainstream. I can guarentee more people know who Metallica is then they do Megadeth. Sucks, but it's true.

New tune sounds pretty good, like I mentioned in the other Deth thread, songs are sounding good but I'm not too fond of the production and how Dave is singing now a days, not enough aggression and the lyrics are a bit cheesy. The song is still good though!

Why would i say "Fuck Metallica" because i like Endgame better? I already like Headcrusher and the new song more than anything on Death Magnetic, hell i like Megadeth more than Metallica, but i don't hold it against Metallica. Why should I? Did Metallica ever say that people should boycott Megadeth? Is it Metallicas fault that Megadeth can't keep up with sales and does it make a shit who sells more anyway? Is there some kind of fucked up rule that forbids a person to listen to both bands?

Headcrusher was a bit "meh" to me, but this song is rippin'! For me, what has been missing from far too many Megadeth albums was the "how the hell did they do THAT?" vibe that listening used to instill in me. Guitar solos alone don't make or break an album for me, but not since Marty Friedman (pre-Risk) have I felt that another Megadeth guitarist was in the same league as Dave. The songs on TWNAH and UA weren't as strong as those from the Friedman/Menza lineup (with a couple of exceptions) and from a technical perspective, TSHF was about the best thing out there with the Megadeth logo on it since before Risk.

I sure don't hold Pitrelli and Drover responsible for weak songwriting, and of course Dave had to approve whatever solos they played, but there wasn't much "wow" factor in their playing. UA didn't stand up to repeat listens for me, but maybe Endgame will. I sure hope so.

Obvisouly this is a rhetorical question, but I think it actually deserves an answer. It's similar to Jackson vs other companies. True you can love both, but most people on here don't. You'll find guys on here that hate Dean or ESP or Ibanez or what have you. There are some people who may like them all and good for them. I personally would like to see ibanez at the bottom of a proverbial well. The truth is, with most people, if they REALLY like something, they usually rag on their competition, it's human nature.

I really wanted to like Death Magnetic, but nothing on it grabbed me. Broken, Beat, & Scarred was the only song I still listen to once in a while.

Most of the other stuff felt really scatterbrained. Almost like the band was unsure of what they were doing. Most of the album seemed like the approach was to make 8 minute songs for nothing more than the sake of them being 8 minutes long.

Personally, I think the choice of Rick Rubin as producer was more based on what was going to look prestigious in the liner notes than it was finding someone who could really bring out what the band has been missing since 1990.

With Megadeth, I suspected that with Metallica going "back to their roots" and the subsequent ass-kissing from the press for their efforts that ensued would drive Dave to try and one-up them again with his next release. Seems like Dave is at his best when he's driven to prove something. Hopefully the rest of Endgame is as good or better than the two songs released thus far.

But wouldn't it be funny if the rest of the album sucked worse then Death Magnetic? We're all sticking up for it, and if it just face planted, that would be hilarious!
