Well, I wouldn't be surprised. Not the first time Dave has released songs from an upcoming album only to have the rest of the album sound nothing like the songs released beforehand.

But going by some of the early reviews posted on some sites it sounds like most of the album is rippin'. Maybe 2-3 tunes that are consistently getting not-so-favorable reviews.

Did Metallica ever say that people should boycott Megadeth? Is it Metallicas fault that Megadeth can't keep up with sales and does it make a shit who sells more anyway? Is there some kind of fucked up rule that forbids a person to listen to both bands?
I guess you missed the first 10 to 15 years of the Mustaine bashing from the Metallica camp. It was quite damaging to say the least. Many people were turned off of Megadeth simply because the bullshit stories out of Metallica's camp that Dave wasn't any good, he couldn't play, couldn't write...etc. Then they lost in court and had to put Dave's name ALL OVER the 1st 2 releases and still omitted him from others.

Don't get me wrong. I love Metallica pre-Load and 1/2 of black....but they haven't put out quality anything since then. Am I worried about sales? Not really, I just want to see Dave get the kudos he deserves and the intelligent musicians media to be able to judge and put Endgame above Crapnetic as it should be.

It won't. I've heard snigglets of all the tracks, it's a jaw dropper. Find track 7 Endgame, you'll see........
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Oh I'm sure it won't. In fact, I KNOW it won't bomb. I was just saying how ironic and funny it would be if it did happen.

Megadeth is for underground metal heads, and old Metallica is also, but Metallica is simply more mainstream. I can guarentee more people know who Metallica is then they do Megadeth. Sucks, but it's true.

New tune sounds pretty good, like I mentioned in the other Deth thread, songs are sounding good but I'm not too fond of the production and how Dave is singing now a days, not enough aggression and the lyrics are a bit cheesy. The song is still good though!
Yeah thats true I always get suprised when peopl say theyve never heard of death.

Speaking as a "fair weather fan" of both bands, I feel like Metallica lost the fire and never regained it. Megadeth has certainly put out some duds, but I for one found quite a few bright spots on TWNAH and TSHF, if not on UA. Even on UA, the production was good and the playing on par with anything short of RIP, but I just didn't care for the songs. Metallica, on the other hand, changed their style in such a way that the musicianship was secondary to the formula.

I understand that more "extreme" bands exist now than when Metallica and Megadeth were young and hungry, but considering that these two set the bar so high for the generations of musicians to follow, only Megadeth seems to be in a position to play at that level now.

I think that Megadeth has consistently put out solid albums. Even Risk had good songs on it, even if they weren't Megadeth (see Metallica's Load albums; good rock songs but not Metallica).

Dave's lyrics have always been cheesy. The focus of the band is on the guitars and drums, not the lyrics, and IMO that's how metal should be. If you take it too seriously then you're only going to be disappointed. (Plus you miss out on the whole subgenre of power metal! )

I think the two songs I've heard (Headcrusher and 1320') really sound like they could fit in on SFSGSW. I just wish Dave would stop producing his own albums because they sound too Pro-tooled.

As far as Metallica, I've completely given up on them ever making good music again. But that's okay. I'm happy to listen to KEA, RTL, MOP, and AFJA.

I'm gonna be in a minority of about one here - I don't like the solos. Well Dave's are fine, but the OTT sweeping is irritating to me. I can really do without that.
Maybe it'll grow on me, but it sounds annoying - I like it well enough when Loomis does it, his solos on Tim Owen's album were fantastic, but the ones in this song here?

Kinda like the ones in the new GNR album, they are good, but like in "better" they just sound kinda out of place to me.

Yep, that's it. They sound out of place. But I'm looking forward to the album, so not making any snap judgements on hearing one song, once.

I thought that some of Chris's solos sound a little too close to Dave's style. Part of the enjoyment of hearing Marty and Dave trade off solos was that their styles were so different it was easy to tell when one stopped and the other began. Don't get that effect so much on the end of 1320.

Chris Broderick seems to be a lot like Jeff Young to me. By that I mean he's got all the technical knowledge and abilities, the makings of a great session player. But the two songs I have heard his contributions to so far, he certainly doesn't seem to have the compositional skills of guys like Marty Friedman or Chris Poland. None of his solos on those songs were really memorable to me.

I don't know, the more i listen to the ending solo in headcrusher, the more i like it. Sure it does sound a little Marty-esque but it has more fire to it than a typical Marty solo. Give him time, let him grow into it. If he gets to stick around long enough i'm sure he'll carve out his own identity within the band.

Yea, but what are the chance of him actually sticking around?

He'll probably be around as long as he can go without asking Mustaine for a raise in pay.
