  • I'm liking the Sea Sick...after a few changes

These promods are turning in to some nice players after switching up to the OFR, mixing up the pickups, and going chrome all the way.

I think this one also benefitted from a few changes as well.

The first one looks great in chrome and creme pickups. The p-rails are throwing me though.

You're making me jealous. Truly beautiful guitars, good work.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

WOW!!!!! I disliked that seasick green alot, but DAYUM!! that is NICE with the chrome hardware. I think they really need to re think this hardware color thing. The chrome looks WAY better on these guitars. it just does. that cream pickup thing is cool as can be. imagine how cool chrome pickup rings would go with that!!!!!! VERY NICE!!! I might rethink the sea sick green. but dam, its spendy to buy all chrome hardware for it. $170 for a floyd, $60 for tuners, $30 for a nut and retainer, knob. then pickup rings. it would cost about $300 with shipping. damn.

The Seymour Duncan P-Rails are cool, although, it does mess with the "Feng Shui" of a Charvel. I had them laying around and was going to drop them in a Les Paul. But, the LP is gone, and I figured that the Sea Sick would be a good platform for a very versatile guitar. I'm rewiring it this weekend to take full advantage of the P-Rails using duncan triple shot rings. That is, it can do P-90, a strat single coil, or a humbucker in series or parallel in every position. Makes for a really jack of all trades instrument. I'll have to report back on that later. So far, I've gigged with it and the humbucker sounds every bit as good as the JB.

Yup, it was about $300 in parts. But.... the guitar was cheap, so in the end I paid the same as what someone paying retail on a new promod Charvel would have paid. Plus, I have a bin of black hardware, electronics, and duncans ready to drop into a tung oiled swamp ash maple strathead Musikraft build!

I agree that Charvel needs to reconsider the black hardware on everything. Maybe they could do the next several batches in chrome for a while? That white/chrome model seemed to be a strong seller. I would have bought it if it were still available.
