Production models. How to tell if its legit?

Umm because I'm forking out money for a guitar built by Charvel, not cobbled together by some living room luthier.

OK... So maybe I misunderstand. Do you mean a "parts guitar" like a FAKE Charvel knock-off, from Musikraft/Warmoth parts?

Or a "parts guitar" like, I bought a Charvel Pro Mod body and a Chavel Pro Mod neck from Ebay and screwed it together?

In other words, if Charvel built the body and the neck then does it matter if that body and neck "came together" as a guitar?

It really doesn't from a playability or quality perspective. Any Pro Mod neck will bolt right onto any Pro Mod body just like they do at the Charvel factory.

It could matter from a "collectibility" perspective, but these guitars won't be collectible.

So, why does it matter?

It would be awful if some "living room luthier" bolted a Charvel Pro Mod neck onto a Pro Mod body that didn't come together from the factory, because it would fit together just like one from the factory. Only... It would NOT be from the factory!

The scary part is, you couldn't even tell. You could play that piece of shit for years and years and years without ever having the slightest idea that it was a worthless Pro Mod body that some jerk bolted a worthless Pro Mod neck on and made a worthless mutt of a Pro Mod that is completely indistinguishable from the "real thing" that was bolted together by Charvel!

If it has the right parts on it and it plays fine what gives? I would worry about that on a Bentley restoration but not a guitar that will never be worth thousands of dollars. Tell you what if you end up with a mutt and it makes you so crazy mad you don't want the guitar get ahold of me. I'll buy the beer and we make that problem all but disappear. LOL. I think you'd be fine whether the factory bolted the 2 quality parts together or someone buying one a little at a time.
