Now hold on a second. I think I've been OK in the thread - even helpful. I suggested there was a way to match barcodes if the barcodes contain anything like a date or a build number.
Then I suggested that if its important that you buy something as-it-left-the-factory, you should factor that into the price when buying used - i.e. if there's no way to confirm it, deduct whatever amount you think that knowledge is worth to you.
There's not much difference in price, either way. If you bought the parts and put them together, you likely paid about as much as a whole guitar. Now, whether these become collectors items where "parts match" matters, that's a whole other ball of wax. I'm not even sure you can match numbers on the ProMods. I know there's a barcode on the body... is there one on the neck? Do these numbers coincide? Or are they just random inventory numbers?
I wish I still had my barcode scanner.
Factor that into the price you pay for parts. Factor that into buying a whole guitar.
If it matters that much to you, figure it this way - unless you can prove without doubt that the guitar is as it was when it left the factory, it's a mutt. Factor that into your pricing when shopping for a used guitar. Otherwise, buying new may be the only way for you to rest assured that you got a "real" guitar.
Now this was a jab at both the idea that a parts guitar is not a real guitar and I was trying to get a little neck through vs. bolt-on action going. Everyone missed that one.
I don't want no fake ass guitar that's been bolted together!
In all - yeah, I've posted like a prick in places - but I think I'm innocent here. You want a laugh, go watch my video where I try to play jazz (the music not the guy).
I still think the main concern is about getting a Charvel body with a Warmoth neck, or vice-versa, not whether the Taxi Yellow Charvel body has a neck from a Candy Tangerine Charvel.
You guys missed that one, and it's an incredibly huge and very legitimate concern, especially given the many years of Charvel fakery. Why would the faker's stop now?
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

OK... So maybe I misunderstand. Do you mean a "parts guitar" like a FAKE Charvel knock-off, from Musikraft/Warmoth parts?
Or a "parts guitar" like, I bought a Charvel Pro Mod body and a Chavel Pro Mod neck from Ebay and screwed it together?
Yeah, I realized I didn't really know if I understood the question.
I tried to clarify and I didn't get a response, and the I started being a big mouth asshole and a dick and stuff while I was waiting around for the answer.
