  • SoCal - Black vs Purple?

I am getting either a black or purple SoCal, just not sure which one. What do you guys think? The black is $50 less expensive, both are used in mint condition.

Also quick question - is the Floyd on the SoCal an orginal or licensed? I see FR written on the side of the trem which in my experience typically means an orginal but I've also read it is not.

    Thanks.

It's made by floyd rose but in korea. Only the one made in germany by schaller is called an OFR. Mine are holding up well. I would go for the purple( I have 5 purple guitars myself).

Splitting hairs, but not correct: the Korean Floyds are also Original Floyd Roses.

          And purple all the way!

I vote purple. Could there be a potential of getting the purple for the same price as the black - if you are set on purple, but price is an issue. Could try to offer to see if the seller accepts. Have you been able to touch and feel these in person? Or just viewed these via pictures?

It doesn't list that anywhere. I should know I said that before and got blasted for it.

Thanks guys keep the suggestions coming. I had been leaning toward the purple - cost is not an issue and I have negotiated down to the final sales price for each but have not seen them in person. I own a trans green Jackson Soloist custom shop guitar and always wanted a Charvel to go with it. I think at these prices (750-800), it's a good time to get one. Plus I want to try the Tone Zone. I already have the Duncan's.

If it bothers you, black is not a limited edition colour, whereas purple is. Might be handy if, 5 or 10 or 20 yrs down the line you decide to sell. You can say it's one of only 250 in the world in that colour. (If that figure is right).

Thanks guys! I am doing the purple. I actually liked it more from the start but like I said, black is less, just wanted everyone's opinion on it. I'm sure it will be a great guitar and well worth the $800.
