  • Like white Charvels, and like bitching about chrome hardware?

This should make Newc happy, because everyone can shut up about how they wished the cream/chrome Style 1 came with black hardware.

Well, here you go. White Style 1 with black hardware, pretty much. SH5/SH2N pickup combo, too.

I found out some sketchy details on this from the local Fender rep. Looks like they're in stock now, there are 20 of them.

When you are in Indianapolis for the Indy 500, be sure to stop by Reno's Music, located in Fishers, Indiana. We are proud to offer an extensive selection of Martin Custom Shop guitars, Gibson Montana acoustic guitars, Eastman guitars and mandolins, and Bourgeois hand-made guitars.

The "spec sheet" mentions something about a pickguard. But, I don't see one. Then again, they do have the Andy Roads input jack on their Custom Shops so I'm not sure I'd trust this info, it wouldn't fit with "San Dimas" either.

They do look like ass. They should have used cream or at least parchment (off-white).

Man, I've gotta hand it to that shop for taking chances with ordering some of their own Charvel design ideas. I give them an "A" for effort, for sure. Unfortunately, I also have to give them a "D-" for taste.

I think it looks like a$$ but I think it's a good thing that a special run was done.

I think its also good news that maybe we can get a special JCF run together and one of our dealers could put in a 20 piece order. Now, we'd just have to convince 20 people to agree on the same specs... so... that will never happen.

I have a tangerine so-cal with all black hardware. I'd entertain the idea of trading my black for all chrome. I think chrome would look kick ass on the orange color, so maybe its a win-win for someone out there. PM me!

So, are the white pickups ugly on this, too?

Is that where you got the neck from? Cool.

They don't look as bad on that on because it's missing the black rings. In general I think those custom shops look a little funky. Not sure if they're selling well either? Besides the neck you had o course.

Yup, that's where it came from.

Yeah, I'd have gone with white rings on that San Dimas, but, jeez, its like $10 worth of parts and if you can't change a pickup ring then you're a complete pussy (man, do I sound like Newc now? )

I like the "funky" look, depending... dunno how many they have sold... I'm sure at least 10 because I've been watching their Ebay listings and the store stock for a while now, and several have disappeared...

I like the red one and the white one, A LOT. The single-color works for me on those.

The yellow, you could make something intentionally hideous out of it (although, the yellow paint is hideous enough, trust me) and the green one they have on that site, yuck, and they had another green one that had blue binding which, they kept telling me the guitar is blue, but it really looked like Surf Green to me, and you could not see the inlays at all, and the dark blue binding with the "blue" (surf green) paint looked pretty awful. :dunno:

So, yeah, pretty hit or miss. But, it's a San Dimas neck profile, contoured heel, scalloped cutaway... They play great.

They look cool on that. I think it's the pup rings and maybe the maple board throwing the other one off.
