Given that the damage didn’t happen while in your possession and the manufacturer has stated it is not a defect in materials or workmanship have you discussed replacement with the retailer? If it is not defective and it was not damaged at your studio then it had to be that way when purchased.

Really though guys, I was done with the whole situation, chaulked it up as a loss, and its going to be going to a new owner soon, that I'm sure will shred it for many years to come.

What causes me to "unleash the fury" is when guys insist that I either broke the guitar on purpose, or I broke it and won't own up to it. I f*ck up plenty of times everyday and have no problem admitting it. In fact, during the Patriots last pathetic performance, I accidently introduced the TV remote to the face of a $3K Suhr I had been noodling on during the game. Talk about adding insult to injury.

If I f*ck up and I'm aware of it, I take my lumps and I try to make it right. That's called being a man, I know some of you jack-offs aren't there yet, but hopefully soon.

How would he miss that if he played it at the store before he bought it, though? That doesn't make sense. He took it home with him, apparently fine, then he put in a gig bag, sitting on top of other guitars in hardshell cases in his studio. According to him, it happened by itself while sitting untouched in the gig bag for months.

I don't see anywhere that he said the damage happened while not in his possession. It sounds like he's saying it was fine when he put it in the case, and when he pulled it out months later it was cracked. How is that going to happen?

But as I understand it, you are saying that you checked it out, it was fine, it was fine when you put it in the case, then it came out months later cracked like that. And that nothing could possibly have been done to make it happen. That's what I don't believe, and have never seen happen, since I picked up the guitar in 1972. And everybody on this thread who knows more about it than me has expressed the same opinion, right up to Mike Learn. What you say happened, could not have happened.

The guy who told the story of the man with the new Les Paul, and his kid who finally admitted he fucked with the guitar, is most likely. If you didn't break it, somebody in your house got in there and dropped it or something, and then didn't tell you. That, or you are just not telling the truth.

Why do you keep bringing up Mike Learn? He actually offered to repair it for me (so did a couple of others) which was very nice of him. He also stated his opinion that in his experience, it was not a manufacturing defect. Cool.

But something all of you seem to be forgetting is the ONLY 2 opinions that matter in this case are MINE and FMIC. The rest of you are just blowing hot air and offering unsolicited conjecture at best, and insulting my integrity at worst. So please don't think for a moment what you say has any bearing at all on the situation. As I've said before. FMIC made their decision and I've made mine.

Wow, I'm 17 years old and even I realize you're being a dick. Just because you broke the headstock on your Charvel doesn't mean you have to throw people under the bus who were initially/ultimately trying to help you.
