  • I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.....:ROTF:

And for the record, the only "homoerotic" lines were with Frigo and Rob, who I think are both adults? I watched "Bruno" over the weekend and I'm still cracking up over it.

Sometimes you have to step off from your pride and take a look at yourself. We all like to be right, but we are all wrong sometimes.

Even me, once or twice in my life, anyway...
Exactly, and they were adults, but come on, man.

Ed, with all do respect, as if seven pages weren't enough, get a clue. Being stubborn solves nothing.

      • Now if it's OK with you guys, I would like to end this thread. This horse has been beaten to death. We can all agree to disagree, and let's just put this thread to rest. Thanks for all the opinions and information that were provided during the duration, but it's pointless to waste anymore time on this topic.

The above is from my post on 12/03/2009, when this thread was 4 pages long. I would like very much for it to be over, but if people insist on posting negative comments directed toward me, then I will continue to respond, and I will let them know what I think of them and their opinions.

        • Speaking of homoerotic: I passed a bar today in an otherwise "straight" part of the city, and they had a sign that said "Man United vs. Man City." What kind of kinky stuff is that?

          • Just checking into this thread now.

Wow, how is it that this Ed guy hasn't been banned? He has disrespected all who have offered opinions that did not mesh with his own, and even told one forum member to consider suicide?!

            Wow.

              Wow.
Well for the most part I think everybody, including Frigo, knows that I said that to break his balls, and that I don't really want him to kill himself.

Other than that, I guess you chaulk it up to free speech and the free and open exchange of ideas. I'm sure those aren't popular concepts in Minnesota, which I assume is like most other commuinist societies and prefer to silence dissenting views. "I don't agree with him. Ban him"

However, I do hope your not offended if I don't lend too much weight to the opinion of someone that elected Al Franken to the U.S.Senate.

Anyone else wish to be heard from, or can we just let it rest now?

See, Ed, it's tough love here at the JCF - and I will tell you, I learned this the hard way myself. Not judging you that way, I came here back in 2002 and thought I knew it all. Hey, I'd been playing guitar for a long time and thought I'd learned a lot, and shot my mouth off to people who it turned out knew a lot more.

Like I said, everybody wants to be right, and I'm a pretty smart guy - I'm sure you are, too - but I DIDN'T know it all. It's kind of like when the small-town guitar hero shows up at MI his first day, ya might eat some humble pie at first. Tough love, but well-meant.

And you know, once I got over myself, DAMN!! This is the most awesome online community, brotherhood, of musicians - but they WILL bust your chops incessantly if you keep promulgating bullshit after you have been duly educated. Whether it's factual or just attitudinal.

So again, man, I don't judge you - I WAS you! But I'm a lot happier now, and have learned a lot of stuff here, because I don't wrap my pride up in getting corrected if I'm wrong about something.

So relax and enjoy it here, and take the feedback in the spirit it's given - to increase your knowledge. But if you persist in wanting to be ignorant, when you could learn something that might save future guitars from damage, this place will bust your balls into infinity.

Again, I learned it the hard way - but I DID learn. word to the wise, bro.

                      For someone who:

A - thinks everyone on this board is a douche, loser and a child who lives with their mother and eats meatloaf

B - has publicly made a complete ass of himself

C - keeps saying he wants to "end it"

You keep coming back and adding to it. If this site is so horrible and you don't care what any of us douche's say or think, why not just go away instead of mindlessly clicking the Refresh button waiting for the next person to post?

You have made zero posts that actually contribute to this site, and you have made zero informative posts in the thread that you started.

So yeah, after I finished pwning some losers on XBOX Call of Duty, ate some meatloaf in my mom's basement, I finished up my job at the peep show wiping up your mess.

                        • Well like I said before, I hope this thread dies, but if I am attacked, I will certainly respond. So really it's up to dickheads like you to decide if you want to keep posting your useless, unwanted comments, or if you want to move on.

If you want to go to war with me, I'm fine with that too, but I hope that won't be the case because I don't think it accomplishes much. Your call.

LOL. My initial "meatloaf" comment was in reference to that guy Chaz in Wedding Crashers that lives in his Mom's basement.

I figured that, but thought I'd throw my own stupid spin on the idea. I can pretend to be obtuse to take one for the team.

Ok, I will make a deal with you. Derek Frigo killed himself, so if you promise that you will at least consider it too, I will stop posting in this thread.

                                Is that fair?
                                Ed,
Sorry to see that the pain of your guitar mishap is still finding its way into your life.

Cracks in the neck pocket are caused by a many different things. One of the most common is a poor fitting guitar in a case and side load placed on the neck when transporting the guitar. People tend to think simply because the guitar is in a case you can slam it down on the side of the case. This torques the neck in the pocket area and cracks it.

Another one that I have seen is the result of the way in which manufacturers finish their guitars in regards to paint. They let the paint roll off an 1/8th of an inch or so into the pockets with out clearing out the few mills of thickness of paint build up. Then they force the neck into the pocket with the buildup towards the top surface of the guitar. This happens when the guitar isn't fully cured. When the stresses continue and the paint contracts, it will not only cause the paint to crack on the thin side of the pocket, but it will also cause stress fractures in the wood.

The next cause is found in poorly tightened neck screws or inadequate screw tension on the neck. The simple weight of the headstock with the fulcrum point at the pocket will cause constant stress at that joint, especially if you are busy in front of a mirror doing your best Judas Priest moves. Face it, we all have been there regardless of age.

I have built many guitars and when I became aware of these issues regarding the manufacturing process and handling, I have no longer had these issues.

Good luck with your new axes!

ps.... I love getting my ass kicked against kids playing Medal of Honor. HAHAHA
