Charvel production vs BC Rich Gunslinger

Anybody played the new Charvels and the new Gunslinger? How does the BC rich compare?

Looks-wise, there is no comparison. What's up with the heel on the Gunslinger on the bass side of the neck? Like a big ol' extra chunk of wood.

I was just gonna start a thread on this, though i am interested in the blade retro version (H-S).
How do the necks compare with the charvel production models? I have tried the charvels but not the gunslinger as no one carries them around me.....

I actually like the h/s config myself but doesn't seem to come in yellow.

If you don't get many responses here, I just searched in the "Other Manufacturers" section, and there are a few good threads & reviews on the new Gunslingers. Alvin Wilson has one of each model. Nick carries them and Charvels at Piney Hills, so I bet he could give you a good comparison. I haven't had a chance to play one, but I've heard almost all positive things about them.

Bout' a year ago I posted the same thread over at harmony central and ended up getting a gunslinger blade for $490 off egay. Good deal and good guitar. The neck PU was a no name dimarzio dual rails and sounded pretty good when I was using it with the super distortion. The trem is the same as the ones on the USA Pros. The neck is Ibanez thin, but it has a smaller radius than and ibanez wizard. I'd put the radius at about 13" versus the 15.6" scale on an ibby. The Charvel's are MUCH better and are in a whole nother league in the quality compartment. The necks on Charvels are amazing. While mine was ok, I played a yellow slinger' and the fret job was horrible. No offense, but you'd be a fool to get a BCR over a SoCal. If you have any other questions, I can help you.

the BCRich has a chunkier feeling neck to me...

but they are too me, not apples to apples..

the Charvel has a "rock vibe and sound" where the Gunslinger is more of an agressive sounding metal guitar in my opinion.. but the neck position on the H/S is FANTASTIC sounding

I LOVE my BC Rich gunslinger, I got it in a trade and expected to flip it, but NO WAY, it is one of my favorites...in fact, I am selling my Charvel TMZ Koa...

never played the new charvels, but ive tried the yellow bc rich and to me the neck felt terrible! was far too wide!

I do think the Gunslinger is a more faithful representation of it's vintage version. The trouble is, the vintage slingers go for the same price...so what's the point?!? OK for a bit of cork sniffery: I'd have to replace that retro slinger truss rod cover with one from Budman...it just gives it away and screams KOREA!!

Gunslinger Vs. Charvel

I had an original gunslinger and I could swear that the nut was 1 5/8. The new ones are 1 11/16.

I own a Px3T Korean BC Rich and it plays just as nice as my SL2H... Go figure.

Mine was really thin width wise and fretboard to back of neck wise also. perfect at the 12th fret but I couldn't stand how thin it was at the nut so I think your right.
