  • No, they are a Korean-made Floyd, although the comment that it is "thin everywhere" seems kind of silly because I've measured the base plates with a caliper and the KFR is actually thicker, the saddles are the same dimensions, the tremolo block is the same, the bar is the same size... :dunno:

Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?

that's my point they're already making what some people are asking for but they just say jackson on the headstock. Why blur the 2 lines, until they are the same. Seems like some of us want history to repeat itself.

Why? The toothpaste logo was only on imports. I guess you could order a custom shop if you really want that logo, though.

I loved the toothpaste logo on my 475... Looking back now, I can't recall why.

That's funny, I stand corrected. Suppose I had Ibanez's Edge Pro in mind. I guess it struck me as beefer, though, I could be wrong on that one too.

As for the tooth paste logo, to me it's just cool looking.
I didn't know that it was only on the imports.

yes, I agree with you completely. I was just giving you a somewhat sarcastic +1

oh, except for one thing...(and I definitely don't want history to repeat itself)

IIRC there aren't any USA made Jacksons are there? Outside of the CC...

everything outside of the CC is import correct? So I can understand his frustration at not being able to get what he wants at this price point. IMHO I just believe it wouldn't be appropriate to do it with the pro-mod "Charvels".

I could make my age old argument that he should go back and get an old one and save the extra coin, but he doesn't want to do that.

Yes, nothing close to that price point in the us. They're are also much higher quality. Since these are production models, How much better quality are the promods compared to a high end import. Minus the oiled/qtrsawn neck and cts pots, the limited run Jackson I just bought through MF has the same pickups and trem(ingold) and a much nicer finish. (some may dislike the basswood body). The guitar cost $800 so even with a pot upgrade I'm still below the cost of a new promod.

                      • Rich#6, yes. I understand. Glad you are happy with it.Basswood in and of itself is not a problem. s with any wood the proper pickups and amplification are huge. Basswood (IMHO) many times lends itself wel to "big stage" guitars. Axes that want to be cranked high to sound good....but....as with any guitar....basswood well-built makes no apologies to anyone.

                        • You don't need a recessed Floyd route on these guitars!! The relation of the neck to body angle allows you to pull up a step and 1/2. (i.e. pluck the open G string and you can pull up to a Bb). That's more than enough wriggle room for all the soaring whammy bar craziness you could want.

Look at an Ibanez or whatever that has a recessed route. The neck is flatter in relation to the body. that's why they're routed so you can pull up on the whammy.

It's about preference. And not having a recessed Floyd is what keeps myself and others from buying these guitars.

You don't "need" more than one pickup.
You don't "need" a rosewood fretboard.
You don't "need" a flame paint job.
Hell you don't even "need" a headstock!

Some of us have gotten used to playing recessed Floyd's over the last 20 years or so that it's been the standard route, that we PREFER to have the strings close to the body along with more room for doing pull-ups.

                            • I'll be honest - maybe its because it doesn't have a neck pickup - but the strings seems very high off the body of the guitar on my new San Dimas wildcard. So I can understand why some people don't like that.

                              • No matter how much 'wiggle' room they have its still nothing compared to a fully recessed route. As evol said some people are just used to having the route there and the lack of a recession keeps them from buying a promod. No point going over this again as its been argued to hell and back, lol.
