  • What gauge strings are you using on your San Dimas?

I just got a style 2 recently with the stock 9's. I've been playing 10's on my other guitars for a long time so the 9's feel a bit light. The guitar seems brighter than my SG (which I like - gotta have some variety) and I'm guessing maybe a small part of that is the 9's.

I'm considering having my SG setup a full step down from standard and having 11's thrown on. I'm thinking of getting the San Dimas setup standard tuning with 10's.

Just curious what everyone else is using on their Charvels.

I have always used .009's. I have tried .010's on one occasion, didn't care for how they felt. Go with what feels good to you.

Somewhat of a thread hijack, but I just found these 10 packs of singles on MF:

I got me a bundle of PL010's and PL013's. Damn I always burn through those soooo much faster than the other gauges!!

12's at the moment, tuned to D
I usually like 10's, but they seemed a little too flabby on the Charvel

I really like the stock strings. Are they Fender's own?

Usually I'll use Ernie Ball pinks (9s) on everything.

I use hybrids, 10s on the heavy three strings and 9s on the light three strings. Best of both worlds. Nice thick power chords and easy to do legato.

I e-mailed theri support. They said the stock strings were D'Addario nickel plated steel strings, 9-42.

Any intonation concerns with "light bottom, heavy top" strings? I'm looking at 10 - 52s for a guitar tuned down a full step.

                            Nope, just intonate accordingly.
