    That's "New Fuggin' Guitar Day!"

First - shout out to Matt - thanks, bro! He said it would ship on Monday and by some insane magic - probably something to do with crossing the time-zone-barrier while he's at NAMM - I was shocked when the package was waiting for me (wife's pissed, of course).

And now the pics (yes - I really need to paint the apartment - we had some water damage, and then had the windows worked on, and I generally don't like doing tasks like "painting"):

    Some commentary -

    - Neck feels great - but completely different than the maple ProMods. Its much more square at the fretboard edges - i.e. not rolled at all. Feels like my Adrian Smith.

    - Color is Fiesta Red. My wife said "how do you like your orange guitar." I said "its almost like a shell pink," to which she replied, "So you feel OK telling people you have a pink guitar?"

    - The route for the humbucker is really shallow. I don't know if I can put a ring on there without some short screws...

    - The fretboard is a nice piece of rosewood - not white-chalky at all. I'll definately oil it up when I put 10's on it.

    - The fretwork is much nicer on this than my last one. Even frets, nicely rounded crowns.

    - The necks got some cool very suble flame up and down it - killer

    - I already swapped out the kidney bean tuner buttons for some old Gotoh buttons that fit them... ah...

    Anyway - peace out!

Very nice. Appreciate the comments, too. Congrats!

BTW, did you already have the Gotoh buttons or did you just buy them? I would love to swap mine out.

            +1. Please elaborate more.

And great grab. That's my favorite of this bunch, too.

Nice! I wouldn't even bother putting a pup ring on there... it looks great mounted the way it is.

Not at all - Keep in mind - I have a 7 guitar limit (this was an arbitrary number established based on me having 6 +1 bass). I sold a guitar, told her I was getting this one, and put another guitar on eBay. So she knew this was coming. Just means she had a month to work up the anger.

Here's the headstock with the Gotoh buttons

I was shooting for similar to my Adrian Smith. Grover tuners are great, I just don't think the kidney beans look good on a strat headstock:

The buttons are circa 1992 or so, from a set of Gotoh tuners. I've bought new replacement Gotoh buttons and they DO NOT fit on these Grovers.

I test fitted a ring and it looked OK... but it was creme on black, and I want creme on creme. I'll probably drop in a creme Dimarzio first and then make the decision on the ring (I was also thinking I could cheese out and Blue-tack it in place for a while "just to see."

J/K. That's a noice guitar no doubt. Thanks for the high res pics too!

BTW that black one looks absolutely great with the cream colored pickups and rings.

                          Nice!

Yeah, the way direct mounts are done you would need very short screws or you can drill a 1/4"-ish hole where the original mounting screw is (which is right where the excess pickup screw will end up. Or, you can just leave it a direct mount.

                              Looks fantastic! That's a Model 2, right?!

BTW, I had own a guitar with a direct mounted pickups before I realized I am accustomed to have my pinky rest on the pickup ring. I haven't done anything about it yet, but may use double sided tape to keep a ring in place.

You should be able to fit a taller pickup ring in there cos of the top-mounted Floyd (again a fave of mine!). Weird about them coming with the kidney beans...r they trying to go prepro old school with that?
