  • any plans for a new "official" Charvel hardshell case?

    Hi all,

I just put a new San Dimas "flame up" on layaway! I know it comes with a gig bag. Any plans for a Charvel case, either molded or tolex? If not, I'm just gonna order a Gator or SKB case or something similar, but will hold out if a Charvel branded case is on the horizon.

    thanks,
    Wally

Speaking of not coming with cases... so the Fender American Standard is now $999 with a case ($1099 for sunburst).

Anyway - maybe if JazzNoise can chime in here - what G&G case did you Custom Shop Charvel come in - the funky scalloped horn ones? Is it just a regular G&G case for strats, or does it have some kind of "cut out" for the Floyd area to prevent the bridge from being pushed down when you close it?

I have a spare SKB case from an Adrian Smith Dinky for one of my ProMods that works very well - if Jackson would just sell that seperately I'd be happy.

You'd think there's enough ProMods floating around now that lots of owners would buy Charvel branded cases for them.

I just bought a Custom Shop San Dimas that came with the standard G&G case for strats. It is not relieved for the Floyd. I mentioned to the dealer that it was pushing down on the Floyd. He stated that the G&G is what was shipped from the custom shop for the guitar.

The case stays open about 1 inch at the Floyd end and has to be forced closed. I wasn't happy about spending approx $3K on a custom shop guitar and getting a case that doesn't really fit!

Thanks Plexipwrd - I figured that was the case.

The case that ships with the Adrian Smith Jackson fits these Charvels perfectly. It has a Jackson logo, though. I don't know why they don't just order up a few with a Charvel logo.

The only thing I can figure is that people have been specifically asking for G&G cases, so that's why. They are nice...

Good one. I noticed that myself when I wrote it!

The G&G cases that my pointy & strathead shipped with both fit correctly without smashing down on the floyds, but that was '05 & '06. No telling what's going on now. I remember it took quite a while for them to get the pointy cases right so the headstock wasn't bottoming out, but that's another subject.
