I totally get what you mean. You like cars and guitars, but just not a whole bunch of them at one time....

My family and being debt free is my thing. I hope to be able to pay our house off by June if all goes well and at the latest by the end of the year. Our thing as a family is that during the summer we take a month and travel and my wife and myselfs thing is to go shooting together (shes an ex cop and im an ex Para rescue man) and music and guitars are my thing and she encourages my GAS cause she knowns that im not an excess type of person and I dont need or want 10 black KV2's.

A collection of guitars is different from a stable of players.

A stable - Most of us guitars have a bunch of guitars that are played, and played for a reason - and that's why a lot of us with multiple guitars have different setups - a Les Paul, a Strat, a shredder, an acoustic, etc. Each guitar serves a purpose as a playable instrument. The point is - the guitar is acquired to play. Personally, I feel bad that some of my guitars sit in their cases and don't get touched for a year (and I've only got 6 now).

A collection - Now, I'm not saying gtrbuyer doesn't play all of his guitars at some point. But a collection is different from a rotating stable of guitars that are played. When you've got a "guitar collection" its better to think of them as a "stamp collection" or an "art collection" or <insert other collection here>. The purpose of each guitar added to the collection is to add to the collection. Got a Stratocaster collection? Got one from every year? Even 1976?

I totally understand collections. Just remember that the collection is the point, not the individual piece - the piece serves the collection.

I think a lot of people don't understand collections of any sort.

I hate looking at Trace's collection. It's like that time I saw a 70's porn with all the hairy fat, acne scarred, sweaty people. It was just gross. After about six or seven hours, I had to shut it off. Seriously, this is a beautiful collection and love seeing it.

I understand that viewpoint hence why I rarely post much here anymore and just post/discuss guitars on the Charvel guitar discussion board. It was not my intent to show off...I thought I would share pics but I can understand how it is viewed as showing off by some members.

Given the ways and means I would have them all and probably more. And for the record my playing does not come even close to warranting such equipement. I dont think anyone anywhere has a more comprehensive collection of Charvels. Nicely done sir.

So if a person who has only 1-2 guitars post pics of them in here, it's okay.
But if the person has friggin' awesome collection that he wants to share with us,it's show off?

That shit's all relative. Go over to the Les Paul Forum where guys have multiple 'bursts. Go over to the watch forums and revel in million dollar pocket watches.

I for one welcome gtrbuyer's collection and his pics - because I love guitars, and if he shut them all up in a closet and didn't show pics - life would be a little less colorful.

good for him, everybody likes to be able to brag or be proud of what they have achieved in life. he's got something to show for it, he damn sure has that as an investment not wasted money he would never see again, he could have sucked all that up his nose or shot in his viens , hundred dollar dinners and overpriced vacations etc....and had nothing to show for it. i have 7-8 imports, knowwhere near as nice as his and i am not jealous of him one bit, i'm proud of what i have and i have shown them too. i could could deal with twenty myself, i think guitars are art as well as a functionable instrument. hell i'd love to have seventy hotties on the side to choose from when i feel like it.
