I finally got my hands on a SoCal

At least for a little while today. I stopped into Sam Ash this afternoon and they had taken a red one as a trade in so I had to take it for a spin. It's the first chance I've had to check out one of the new USA production models and I must say, I'm impressed.. It sounded great, very playable, the action was a tad high for my taste but that's easily fixed. Now if I could just get around that ugly assed pickguard, I'd be completely sold.

pickgaurd is a $30 fix. warmoth makes an incredible high quality replacement. how much was the used one?

The used one was 799.00 and still had plastic on it.. looked like new.. I'm just not a fan of picguards, but I might have to make an exception in this case because that was one sweet playing axe.

If the pickguard is really bugging you, you can have your pick of most of the versions or colors at about that price on eBay. There is something to be said for knowing exactly what you're getting, though.

Yeah, I know.. It's not that big a deal really.. I just have to find something to complain about... Keeps me from impulse buying and regretting later.. lol Seriously, I have been wanting to try one out for awhile, and now that I have I can't see NOT having one in the (hopefully) near future. Probably not the red, but who knows..
