I find it funny that throughout the entire pro mod series the SoCal seems to have gotten the biggest response when Charvel was mostly built on non pickguarded strat style guitars. Don't get the wrong vibe from me, So Cals are by far my favorite guitars out of the pro mods.I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

Yeh, well I'm glad everyone got a boner but..........
Batch this and batch that. It was all a fun novelty at first. The guitars are just the same damn thing over and over.
Same multi-piece alder body - big f'n deal
Same body shapes (woops Tele is gone!) - big f'n deal
Same body contour - big f'n deal
Same lower budget 'OFR' trem - big f'n deal
Same bridge style - big f'n deal
Same one piece maple neck (wooh 1 rosewood) - big f'n deal
Same single action truss rod - big f'n deal
Same headstock - big f'n deal
Same neck backshape - big f'n deal
Same nutwidth - big f'n deal
Same frets - big f'n deal
Same pickguards - big f'n deal
Same electronics - big f'n deal
Same pickups (pretty much)- big f'n deal
Same tuners - big f'n deal
Same no-binding - big f'n deal
I have maybe 6 or 7 of these now. I got most pretty cheap 'on closeout' but still it's getting a little freakin old. "Ohhhh this one is red, my pussy is all wet!"-Screw that
So much for the hotrod guitar company; Is "PLAINROD' a word? I knew this was going to happen when fender bought them. 50 models of the same damn guitar...cookie cutters and marketing hype....yeh!Last edited by Code Red; 03-25-2010, 11:28 AM.

Basically I AM SAYING it's the same old guitar over and over again with different paint. There's nothing new or special about any single one. Now that I think of it, even the custom stuff is plain and a little sad compared to everything else in the price range.
Where the bird's eye?
Where the different bridge?
Where's the Fender dual action trussrod?
Where's the sustainer?
Where's the Explorer bodyshape?
Where's the contoured heel?
Where's the lucite body?
WHERE IS ANYTHING DIFFERENT OR MODERN?
If you want to instigate me more....I'll say this - with exception of Pablo's work - even the Custom shop stuff is behind almost every other company except Squire. They might as well just scratch off the marketing plan of "cool hotrod cutting edge guitar guys" and change the slogan to 'pretty nicely made plain old guiters with an 80's paint job'. Gees enough is enough.
I can't buy another plain old outdated guitar no mater how much I like Charvel. By #8 batch....I'm getting sick of it.
