I was pretty sure I'd end up doing this... Actually I had it in mind for a few months, finally got around to doing it.
This is one dirty little bitch.
Sorry it's so filthy but, I guess it's part of the charm of this guitar, so I wanted to show it off in it's typical state.
Using a neck from a Custom Shop Charvel and a Pro Mod body, plus various other Charvel and Jackson parts I had laying around from my stolen guitars (stuff I was "saving" in case I put them back to stock) I threw this together. It's kind of elegantly hideous, I think.
The missing piece was a set of neck screws. Charvel uses these weird oval-head #10 screws, I could not find them anywhere, and I wasn't willing to irreversably fuck up my neck using sheet metal screws instead (different thread) so I had to buy a neck plate that came with a set.
So, it has:
- Custom Shop Strat-head neck, maple, Tru Oiled, red headstock, binding & inlays
- Black Schaller keys
- Black OFR
- Chrome knob (authentic Jackson part from an SL1 )
- Chrome switch tip (black switch tip with black removed)
- Chrome football jack plate (from SL2)
- Chrome metal rings on black plastic rings
- Red SH2N/SH5 pickups
Anyway, it doesn't have a scalloped lower horn or contoured heel or the other fancy stuff the Custom Shop body has, but it does have the angled neck pocket and non-recessed bridge, and the neck fits perfectly. I can put it back the way it was any time I want, but I don't think I will.
