  • Installed new pickups on my San Dimas (Green content inside)

The duncans just weren't my cup of tea, so I swapped in a Super Distortion & PAF pro

Looks and sounds a million times better. my crap camera and the lighting don't really do it justice, but here are some pics.

    Wow that's green!

Great choice on that pickup combo. I've got the same in my San Dimas.

Hmmm. I have a Slime Green one too. I was thinking of changing out my bridge pickup also. I was also considering a Dimarzio SD I have lying around. I just might consider it now.

I like that and I think it gives it a modern look. I have a slimer and am trying to go with more of a vintage look so I swapped the pickups to zebra dimarzios (tone zone/air norton combo). Still not happy with it. I think it looks 'off' because I used the black pick up rings. I'll try to find some cream pickup rings to see if it looks better.

That looks pretty freaking wild! How do the Dimarzios sound in comparision to the original (JB/'59)? What gear do you play thru and what style? Thinkin bout putting somthing different in too.

My experience was the opposite...I liked the duncans better (I have a Telly with the duncans, and bought a So Cal a week later). When I got the So Cal, I liked the Dimarzios..just not as much as the JB...(could really care less about the neck p'up as I rarely use it). I ended up exchanging the So Cal for an HSS San Dimas with the JB.

I wish they gave you a choice of p'ups on these guitars...I'd love a So Cal (with the pickguard)..but with Duncans. I know it's easy enough to switch pickups...I'm just sayin

I'd like to put a pickguard on my SD Strat...anybody ever put one on a Strat body that wasn't meant to have one...like the Charvel San Dimas models?
                  Maybe that sounds stupid..just curious.
