That's just not a sound financial decision. Pointy San Dimas Charvels that haven't been beaten up too bady can be worth twice what a new ProMod goes for, and stratheads can go for 3-4 times that amount.

The closer comparison cost wise would be to an Ontario Jackson, and then I would say the ProMod wins everytime.

Hey - I've had at least one person commend me on my tone on youtube.

Good to hear from Chubtone & tcwil that the ProMods are so similar to the old SDs.

I've never been in the same room as an old SD and the Pro Mods are still great-playing guitars.

What feels better is going to depend a lot on the size and shape of your hand, and what you learned on. This isn't a "one size fits all" deal.

                          +1

What is comfortable to one, might not be to another.

I have had guitars that just wore my hand out, and also some that put my hand to sleep.

                          As far as tone,
You may go through 100 axes before you find that one that really sings.

Maybe I was having an off day when I checked out the ProMods.
Think I'll check them out again this weekend.

The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
                          I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
                          And rock that sucker.

Hey, Gary! Bit of a resurrection here: I've been thinking about your comment there (basically every time I take a dump, which is about 3 - 4 times a day, so...you do the math) and I have a slight problem with it. If you think about it, turds really don't make any noise as they are sliding down the side of the bowl! Let me explain. As stated above, I poop quite a bit, and it isn't too much of a stretch to say that I also fart quite a lot...combine this interesting view into the life of RacerX with the fact that pooping & farting have to be in the Top 10 of All Time Hilarious subjects...and now you're in the proper frame of mind for my argument.

Which is: Most of the sounds a turd makes emanate from the act of exiting the bunghole - NOT sliding "down the side of the bowl"! Let's set aside the subject of your rather poor aiming skills (most of my turds make splashdown into the water). When a turd leaves (nice book title eh?) there may be various sliding & farting sounds, including the gunshot-like kapow of a larger fart pushing its way past the patiently waiting turd(s) - much like Lemures & John Fawkes in this thread!

For you newbs or others who may have missed this thread: go ahead and read it all - it's freakin' funny!

                            • Staying up pretty late Ron ? I will say that pro mods(atleast the so cal) are pretty nice guitars, making atleast the top 6-7 that I have owned.Theres nothing wrong with the hardware(stays in tune) what more could you want? They do have a little generic feel, but what do you expect for 1000 or less brand new guitar. I don't know where turds came in and am not bored enough to read through it to find out.
