Are you referring to the scarf joint and seperate fretboard on a pointyhead neck? That's not the same thing as what most people refer to as a "3-piece neck" construction.

        2. Supposedly all were hand build
        3. They were available with a Vtrem
        4. The Floyds were German OFR
        5. The had headstock truss adjusts
        6. They had G&G cases
        7. They had two piece bodies (as opposed to three or four on the production models)
        8. Real tuners
2 - As much as any guitar is "hand built" I guess. There's no machine that I know of that will screw a neck to a body. And let's face it - they're not cutting the neck or the body with a hand held device of any sort.

8 - Yeah, because Grover has only been making tuners for like, more than 50 years, so they're shit.

I was thinking he meant the same thing...

I wonder how many pointies were actually produced during that period. I had a dweezel reverse for a while but I ended up selling it. Mine was one that had the clear lift issue on the headstock that a few from that period had. I seriosuly thought about buying another one when they were blowing them out after they were discontinued.

Well, they used to do legitimate 4 piece necks, right - 3 pieces for the back, no scarf and the fingerboard. You don't really hear people call Gibson's current necks "2 piece" - back and fingerboard - but you do hear "3 piece" referring the three piece lam constrution, but they don't call them 4 piece, either.

Well, there weren't a huge amount of 'em produced, and they were priced a bit higher than the flapjack-like Pro Mods!
